What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I was bad tonight. Ended up having to stay at work much later than I had thought so missed out on going to the market to buy fresh produce. Got home and was starving and tired so had a fried egg in a burger bun followed by chocolate pudding (bit like angel delight...can't think of the English). The only saving graces were that I used frylight instead of proper oil, and low fat milk. Not one of my best efforts but life gets in the way sometimes.

Sounds awesome. Was contemplating doing Chapali with lamb rather then beef, but this way I could cook three different meats in one meal. Unfortunately my other half doesn't like two of them, but guess once made, but not cooked they would freeze nicely.

Yeah you can deffo freeze them or cook em all and eat them cold the next day  btw this is pretty close to my mum's way of making them: Chachi's Kitchen: Seekh Kebab

That's probably closer to what would happen. I ended up eating Tandoori style chicken for breakfast the other morning.

Do you really need breadcrumbs or is it just a way of bulking?

Cool website btw. I'm quite inspired by this as a side dish.

Chachi's Kitchen: Today's Lunch

I really need to invite some people over dinner to give me an excuse to go all out cooking loads of dishes. South Asian cuisine is great as the more different things you throw on the table the better.

I dont think my mum uses bread in her's. I can check though.

That ghisora jo shaak from the lunch you linked to looks fucking well fit. Reminds me of being a kid. I was veggie for a time and mum used to always make amazing veggie curries for me.

What I love about chachi's recipes is that many of them are from the Ismaili tradition, particularly ismailis that went from Gujarat to East Africa. East African and Arabic food influenced the recipes quite a bit so it's very different to standard Gujarati food. Its the kind of food my family make.

It's not a bad cuisine to be a veggie with. Reading through that site I realised I've never tried okra, could be tempted by the stuffed ones on that site.

My Mum was born in East Africa. Sadly I probably didn't appreciate curry much when it was younger, but remember it being served with weird things like sultanas, bananas and powdered coconut. Which was probably pretty exotic in the UK in the 70s.

i am recovering from hospital (nothing serious) so I ordered a pizza: garlic oil, chilli oil, salami, olives and onions, with garlic bread, wedges and two cans of Sprite for €16. This pizza shop is very good ...but when the nippers are over they dont like this one so we order from Dominos:facepalm::rolleyes::cool:

Don't know. I'm working til at least 8.30 & have been told if I'm not able to cook myself then we're getting fish and chips. I really don't want fish and chips though

My sister and her g/f are coming round to watch Game of Thrones and we're having pizza, too. A stonebaked one with roast chicken, ham, peppers and rocket. I'll give it a bit of chilli powder to zing it up a bit and maybe some spring onion too. Cookie Dough ice cream for pud. Lidl do this ice cream that has packaging so close to Ben and Jerry's that it's a miracle they haven't been sued.

Tonight will be a veggi stir fry, with marinaded (and fried to fuck) tofu on egg fried rice.

I'm gonna do a mango, kiwi, chilli and sesame salsa to go on the side just for the fruit in their dinner haterz :p

Your salsa sounds lovely, sorry to disappoint you ;)
