What's for tea tonight? (#8)

In need of some healing food, so gonna make a vast amount of my own recipe spicy lentil soupy dhal - plenty of allspice, less of chilli, bit less of cinnamon and nutmeg, plenty of ginger and garlic, fresh lemon juice, and am gonna bung in a couple of handfuls of spinach too for extra goodness. Will have in big bowl with basmati rice. Salted caramel cake from the co op for afters

It's great when they get to that stage isn't it ringo

Life changing. I'd reached the point where I couldn't take her out for food because she refused everything and had such a meltdown it ruined everyone else's meal. When you love food and new things that's my worst nightmare. My strategy of getting her to try one new food a week has worked wonders. Now she'll try a spoonful of anything, safe in the knowledge that if she doesn't like it she doesn't have to eat it but if she does like it she's discovered something new she enjoys :thumbs:

Fast day for me. Got a little bit of chinese pork left, which I've thinly sliced, to make a noodle soup with the stock from it, too (it's roasted over water so the stock is tasty and effortless  - although it's always alarming to see the amount of fat that settles once it's had a day in the fridge - I hacked a solid inch off it and that was just from one 500ml pot - yeuch! :D ). Spiralized carrot and courgette, mushrooms and spring onions to go in it with the meat - and the kids will have some proper noodles in theirs, too. Dollop of oyster sauce on the top.

Strawberries, meringue nests and plain yoghurt for pudding.

Brilliant news re the little un ringo - it really IS life changing when you get the fussy ones to start experimenting more!

I don't remember it being so difficult with my eldest, she's so mellow she wouldn't have kicked up such a fuss. The tiddler on the other hand, is a little firebrand [emoji33] [emoji1]
