Chicken cacciatore (thighs - in this case - done in the oven with bay, rosemary, garlic, tomatoes, black olives, anchovies... no red wine as we were feeding children too), goose fat spuds and broad beans with garlic. Followed by a really undercooked but still delicious pistachio and rose cake. Fat.
Roast Cauldron Lincolnshire saussies, with potato dolphinose, cauliflower cheese, and roasted fennel and onions, with a smidge of roast onion gravy. Fuck ME
I've never had roast fennel bulb before - it worked perfectly with the thick flavours of the spuds and cauli cheese
And then for after, I defrosted some of the blackberries I'd saved from when we did blackberry brandy. So we had hot chocolate melty-middle sponge cakes, with brandy-infused blackberries, and single cream poured over the lot. Unbelievably witness
So yeh, anyway, tonight's tea will be spinach and ricotta tortellini, in tomato and mascarpone sauce, with a garlic flatbread, and I quite fancy a nice crunchy zingy watercress and rocket salad to cut through the thickness.
I might see if there's any of those choccy puds in the Co op too - still have some cream and blackberries left
After a weekend of eating cake, BBQ food (mostly meat), and a massive FEB I feel the need for something healthy tonight
Might do a stir fry or possibly a veggie/beany curry if I cba.
12 x 12 years old's party went well, they stuffed themselves on chocolate, sweets and cake and all ate a veggie Mexican wrap but turned their noses up at the "weird" refried beans
Sunday I did a veggie shepherds pie with broccoli.
Tonight is leftover Chinese - beef in yellow cashew nut sauce and Singapore fried rice.
Took some lamb out of the freezer last night. Will have a cheats roast type dinner with roast potatoes, aunt Bessie's and broc. I'm looking forward to it.
No choccy puds, booo, but did pick up some lemony cheesecake wedges, reduced-price, so will pour the rest of the single cream over them, and grate a little dark choccy on top
