What's for tea tonight? (#8)

We'll be having the beautiful but simple spaghetti/garlic/chilli/olive oil thing that I can never remember the fancy Italian name of, smothered in parmesan. Nom!
Well this didn't happen, thanks to the fella being a massive booze enabler!:thumbs: I got home, sun's streaming through the house, and all I said was 'my god, THIS is beer garden weather eh?' and he's off out the door for wine :D:D

We ended up having luvvvvly Pinot Grigio, and a throaty Cote du Rhone, and I made a stonking arrabiata with pennoni rigate, and a reduced-price garlic tear 'n' share

May have last night's planned tea tonight, or maybe cheese omelette and couscous or chips and salad, or possibly veggie cheeseburgers and chips and salad.

Can't decide!!!

Getting cooked for tonight, think it's some sort of fish in foil with herbs and that plus veggies and salad. I think I'll get the griddle out I got for my birthday and haven't used yet, cook it all up out on the decking with some tunes, sunshine and booze.

It's one of these, supposed to be good for fish etc, anyone used one?

been sorting out the freezers into date order so working through the oldest stuff. Tonight will be Novembers venison steaks, jersey royals, 2 p sprouts and a carrot and swede mash. will do a sauce from pan juices garlic and creme de cassis.

Now everything in the freezer in newer than February

All I've eaten for dinner this week has been total shite food because I haven't been fucked to do much other than sleep - instant noodles, crackers and shit cheese, chips. Back to cooking tonight.

I didn't like any pork products growing up. Brought up to think pork meat was unclean and disgusting. Luckily I reconditioned myself. First pigs in blankets was at 17. So many years of missing out!

Balkan (bulgarian and greek) pork sausages are delicious. I still can't stand British pork-based products. :(

Had two dinners today - chicken katsu banh mi (pictured) with curry mayo, sriracha sauce, cucumber, pickled carrot and coriander in a baguette with skin on chips, in town this afternoon, and later on, a small steak sandwich (minute steak panfried) with sweet chilli sauce and fried onions at home. Both delicious. I'll be making something healthy tomorrow

Last night I made a sort of pilaf: rice and onions cooked in chicken stock with saffron, cardamom, cinnamon and two strips of lemon zest, served with baked chicken leg that had been marinaded in lemon/olive oil/harissa/garlic, and sprinkled with fresh mint and pomegranate seeds. It was fucking well nice, especially since it was a 'what can I make with the random stuff I have in the house?' meal.

Earlier in the week we had two nights of courgette lasagna, which was also lush.

Tonight I am on my own so it will be veg chilli from the freezer, eaten with rice and cheese while watching a film.

Lamb stew is in the slow cooker. Superhealthy style, with chopped carrots, celery, garlic, parsnips, diced lamb and chicken stock. Fresh herbs including mint and parsley. Didnt fry anything first, so it's low cholesterol.

Just me and the littlun tonight so we'll probably have a Chinese delivered as we always get outvoted on that.

Birthday party for her tomorrow with 12 mates coming so I'm doing veggie quorn Mexican wraps with guacamole, cheese, soured cream and lettuce, rice, refried beans, tortillas & dips, plus a pinata, chocolate fountain, One Direction cake, cup cakes, sweets for prizes etc.

Think we've gone a bit overboard :D:thumbs:
