What stupid shit has Trump done today?

I see Don Jr. is lashing the woke left for allegedly cancelling the Muppets. . . when what has really happened is that one episode has been withdrawn because it features convicted child abuse image possessor Chris Langham. It's as disgusting as it is laughable.

Didn't think it was canceled, just labeled.
So I googled.

"The Muppets have not been canceled. They have just been put in context. Disney added all five seasons of The Muppet Show to its streaming service, Disney+, on Feb 19.17 hours ago"

Btw, sesame street was also labeled, not canceled.

Ooooh! The original Muppets?

Absolutely adored that show.

There's never been a journey so successful.

We've been doing a lot of winning

Murderers everyone!

They're not giving us their best and their brightest

Yes, he's back at his rambling worst

Time to reopen that thread mocking Trump's first absurd run at the presidency

this is ridiculous. that stage was not made to look like an obscure nazi symbol no-one knows.

Seems far-fetched, but I think it's not impossible that somebody with white nationalist leanings working for the American Conservative Union thought they were being clever with it - there's no functional reason for the stage to be in that shape and this pagan group seems pretty sure it was intentional:

And it's definitely not all that obscure, at least in some circles - groups including the National Socialist Movement have started using it instead of the swastika, as CNN noted in a story on up-and-coming hate symbols a couple of years ago.

So what? Whoever designed the stage set didn't, and neither did you until you read that twitter thread.

The stage was designed by somebody at the American Conservative Union, which has well-documented links to white nationalists - maybe the higher-ups who signed off on the design didn't recognise the symbol but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some people involved in the process who were very familiar with it,

It does seem a little bit Queen's EU hat and it all being an innocent coincidence is definitely a strong possibility, but it's not like it's so totally unlikely that the CPAC organisers might include white nationalists, and that said fashy CPAC organisers might be the kind of Death in June fan-type arseholes who would think that something like this was really clever and cool, innit?

If I were in the stage building biz, and a group notorious for its sympathy to nasty right wing bullshit turned up for a quote, I'm the sort of person who wouldn't be able to resist trying to troll them by using a fairly obscure RW symbol, just to see if I could "innocently" get away with it. That particular design would be ideal for the balance between plausible deniability and obviousness...

ETA: after all, the Golden Calf got made in Mexico... :D

Not sure that would be a very good troll to be honest.

I guess it's the fact that if you were in charge of building a stage for a far right political event and wanted to troll the organisers, designing something that would be a dog whistle to people even further to the right and yet utterly meaningless to almost everyone else seems somewhat counter productive.

Fair enough.
