Just to continue with this: I think they are both con-men in a way. It is well recognised that politicians often promise the Earth and deliver very little of that promise. e.g MAGA and a new 'Golden Age'. Both men do though believe unshakeably in their own greatness, though they are surprisingly lackadaisical and part-time in the role itself.

Both use cynically employed rhetoric to stir currents of nationalism. Both are lacking much competence in traditionally expected skills of top politicians. One thing they are good at is selling their own spotlessness when they are busy trashing important institutions, particularly ones that are 'holding their great nations back'. They help the rich and betray the ordinary people they promised so much to.

Both are shameless - though they have much to be ashamed of. Then there are the similarities of the countries they govern. Both are in thrall to free-market extremism. Both are finding out where that can lead to for those who don't profit.

Someone will no doubt pithily say something like the following, so here it is:
