What stupid shit has Trump done today?

this week apparently

hats not pointy enough ...methinks

I just heard him on the news saying that he condemns all kinds of hate, such as white supremacy, all kinds of supremacy... Antifa...

So disingenuous. He's just such a douchebag. I can't find a link now. Bollocks.

I don't think he has worked out what antifa means or is short for.
To be fair, Ruti - most USians don't either. I used to post on a (liberal) garden site (I am now banned) and for the vast majority of middle class liberal Americans, antifa really does equate to some sort of masked terrorist cell...and as for even the tiniest sniff of anarchy (and I spent no end of time passing on info garnered from here)...pant-wetting occurs en masse.

Oh I know. :) Most Americans aren't president though with access to advisers and a responsibility to get this shit right. :(

The reason it isn't translating is because the far right has been working to make sure it doesn't. If you can portray Antifa as a group of terrorists, instead of a opposition movement, you can demonize anyone who opposes you. I've heard Heather Heyer referred to as Antifa when she was quite clearly a Wobbly. She was also Antifa in the more general sense, but the far right is trying to make her sound like a radical terrorist, instead of a concerned citizen. By leaving people with the belief that Antifa is a terrorist organization, they can lump anyone who disagrees with them into the box marked "terrorist." That is what Trump is doing here. If we don't get rid of him in 2020, he'll be using it as an excuse to imprison anyone who opposes him.

Similar reactions on the site I post on, which is frequented mostly by Americans. The Trumpist contingent seem to think antifa is a monolithic terrorist organisation.:(

From the article linked above,
TRUMP: "I think illegal immigration is a terrible thing for this country. I think you have to come in legally."

Shame he couldn't give this advice to his friend Little Tommy Ten Names.

.....the joys of "GENIUS VISA's " as a path of eastern European chain migration to the US for extended family members .....

Trump threatens retaliation over travel warnings against US

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump threatened undefined retaliation Friday against countries and organizations that issue travel warnings on the United States because of gun violence.

"If they did that, we'd just reciprocate," Trump said during a wide-ranging impromptu gaggle with reporters at the White House, en route to fundraisers in New York.

He added: "We are a very reciprocal nation with me as the head. When somebody does something negative to us in terms of a country, we do it to them."

Amnesty International and a growing list of countries have begun issuing warnings about travel to the United States because of gun violence, including mass shootings over the weekend in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.

Warnings about gun violence, which are of varying degrees of intensity, have come from a list of countries that include Uruguay, Venezuela, Japan, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand.

In an advisory issued Wednesday, Amnesty International said: "Depending on the traveler's gender identity, race, country of origin, ethnic background, or sexual orientation, they may be at higher risk of being targeted with gun violence, and should plan accordingly."

Trump did not specify any particular country, or what he might do to retaliate.

From the NY post

Turning to Japan, Trump then put on a fake Japanese accent to recount his conversations with Shinzo Abe over their conversations over trade tariffs.

Trump spoke about his friendship with Abe and how fascinated he was with Abe’s father, who had been a kamikaze pilot. Trump asked Abe if the kamikaze pilots were drunk or on drugs. Abe said no, they just loved their country. Trump remarked, “Imagine they get in a plane with a half a tank of gas and fly into steel ships just for the love of their country!”

Trump tore out magazine picture of Justin Trudeau, scrawled odd message and mailed it to Canadian embassy, reports claim

Donald Trump reportedly tore out a magazine picture of Justin Trudeau, scrawled a brief note about the Canadian prime minister “looking good”, and made White House officials mail it to the neighbouring country’s embassy.

The message – first reported by Axios – is said to have been written by the US president on the torn-out cover of a May 2017 issue of Bloomberg Businessweek, which featured an image of Mr Trudeau alongside a caption reading “The Anti-Trump”.

On it, Mr Trump reportedly jotted a note reading something to the effect of, “Looking good! Hope it's not true!" according to the US news outlet.

The Canadian ambassador considered the note so strange he thought it was a prank, but after calling US officials was told the note was genuine.

Although some White House staff reportedly considered the note inappropriate, the National Security Council ultimately decided it was done in good humour and would be considered by Ottawa to be friendly contact.

Another exchange in December of that year reportedly saw Mr Trump send Mr Trudeau a document purporting to show a US trade deficit with Canada.

Mr Trudeau reportedly responded by including in his letter a printout of a US government website showing America actually has a trade surplus over its neighbour when services are included with goods.

The Canadian prime minister reportedly included a smiley face alongside the document.

So we had the war on terror, 'subdued' large parts of the world and dominate the world; but we are so pissed off and feel so hard done by that we choose (and may yet choose again), Donald Trump and his army of self-serving blowhard crackpots.

Cripple society to save it. It's popular because the rich rule and they are making out like bandits. There's your president. Expand the military budget!
