What stupid shit has Trump done today?

On Global Handelsblatt Poll Finds Germans Agree with Trump on NATO

I didn't really expect the Cloggies to be quite so up for it.

11 Years Old, a Mom, and Pushed to Marry Her Rapist in Florida
She says she was raped by both a minister and a parishioner and gave birth to a daughter when she was just 10 (the birth certificate confirms that). A judge approved the marriage to end the rape investigation, she says, telling her, “What we want is for you to get married.”
...every state in America still allows underage girls to marry, typically with the consent of parents, a judge or both. Twenty-seven states do not even set a minimum age by statute...
In New Hampshire, a girl scout named Cassandra Levesque learned that girls in her state could marry at 13. So she set out to change the law.

A legislator sponsored Cassandra’s bill to raise the age to 18, and researchers found that two 15-year-olds had recently married in New Hampshire, along with one 13-year-old. But politicians resisted the initiative.
“We’re asking the Legislature to repeal a law that’s been on the books for over a century, that’s been working without difficulty, on the basis of a request from a minor doing a Girl Scout project,” scoffed one state representative, David Bates. In March the Republican-led House voted to kill the bill, leaving the minimum age at 13. (Legislators seem willing to marry off girls like Cassandra, but not to listen to them!)
New Jersey lawmakers passed a bill that would make their state the first in the country to ban marriages of people under 18, but Gov. Chris Christie this month blocked the legislation. New York legislators are considering a bill backed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to raise the age to 17, from the current minimum, 14.
Opponents worry that raising the age will lead to out-of-wedlock births, and they note that many underage marriages are consensual.

There were a few shotgun weddings in my extended family back in the 60s and 70s where the girl was underage (including one at 13) usually 'eloping' to Kentucky, but I had no idea this still happened. :(

Funny how Republican legislators seem so keen to ensure adult men can still marry very young girls. :hmm:

It's a bit lame Macron made such a big deal of surviving a Trump handshake. Trump is nearly twice his age and did his best to be graceful in this moment. I've had longer contests of hand strength with a disgruntled used car salesmen.

Trump really doesn't know how to do a handshake.

In The Guardian Germany steps up attack on Trump for 'weakening' the west
...
Gabriel said on Monday that “anyone who accelerates climate change by weakening environmental protection, who sells more weapons in conflict zones and who does not want to politically resolve religious conflicts is putting peace in Europe at risk”.

“The short-sighted policies of the American government stand against the interests of the European Union,” he said, judging that “the west has become smaller, at least it has become weaker”.

“We Europeans must fight for more climate protection, fewer weapons and against religious [fanaticism], otherwise the Middle East and Africa will be further destabilised,” Gabriel said.
...
German FM. A view of Climate Change oddly enough that was popular in the Pentagon. I doubt Trump or his base will ever be converted to it.

That really was one of his better examples. I'm sure he does know the protocol. It's such a basic thing in US business. He may have figured out trying to dislocate another statesman's shoulder like they are Russian oligarch he's trying to close the deal on a property with is bad TV.

Yes, i can relate to it from G.I Joe where they point out how the President handshakes and talks. Well, still i would say he is just a rich idiot.

I don't really want to have too much sympathy for anyone involved in the Trump circus, but that must be a pretty impossible job. And reportedly he treats people like shit in a sort of social Darwinist way - must be why his kids are so nice.

You haven't got a "corrupt population" rather a 'dumbed down' one, something not unique in America, it's everywhere, and it's down to those sections of the media controlled by the corporate right wing Neoliberals
The danger is that politicians who have some sense of decency know they will be steamrollered into oblivion if they try to buck these organisations.
A constant torrent of clickbait will always beat sober (but boring) analysis of current affairs.

I'm not so certain. The people I'm referring to have all been informed with contrary information, backed up with proof. For instance, the people who say that Planned Parenthood funding needs to be cut off because it funds abortion. It does not. There are two separate laws that cover this. You can quote those chapters, backed up with links to the government website, and they accept it, but a month later they're claiming the same old shite. They're repeating that line because they want other people to believe it. Or, they're so mired in group think that they feel they'll be out of the group if they say anything contrary to the accepted cannon. It's fundamentally dishonest and not at all rare.
