What coffee are you drinking just now?

Same for me and now I can't wait for the aeropress I just ordered to arrive. Expresso ground coffee in a caetiere is crap.
I've had my Aeropress for a few months now, best £20 I've spent in a long, long time. Easy to use, easy to clean, never makes a bad brew. Couldn't be happier with it, so much so that I've already bought 2 more as gifts for friends/family (whom were both equally as impressed as I've been with mine). Espresso grinds can be somewhat difficult to plunge in the Aeropress so if you're weak/frail I'd hire some muscle to make your coffee for you :D

I never bothered to click on that!
Why is it called Starter Pack?
Yep, I'll get that next.

This is a great starter pack for those wanting to experience our new range of blends and my favourite single origin at the moment. There are 5 x 250g packs in total:
  • Jailbreak Espresso Blend
  • Blake Espresso Blend
  • Kicker Espresso Blend
  • Jabberwocky Espresso blend
  • Brazil Fazenda Cachoeria
Just bought one of these. Should keep me going for a bit.

My Square Mile 6 month subscription ran out last month so before taking the plunge and renewing it I have ordered a batch of "Ethiopia Yirgacheffe" from Ebay from a seller with good feedback who roasts his beans to order. £5.75 for 250g so not a huge risk :)

:(
I've forgotten to order any coffee this week, so I have a bank holiday weekend with generic Fairtrade coffee. :(

I may have to haul myself up to the posh end of town on Saturday - weather looks good enough for a picnic in any case. :)

I'm on the Brazilian - so far so good.
The blends are good too - I'm drinking the Jailbreak at home and the Blake Espresso blend at work and they're both really good. I'll keep an eye on what they've got in these starter packs in future. They're a good deal.

Well the rest of the weeekend is saved.

I now have some coffee. Rwanda Musasa Co-operative 100% Red Bourbon.
Unfortunately my shop only has the Guatemalan as decaff at the moment. :(

Well these Hasbean starter packs are definitely the way forward for me. I'm drinking the Jabberwocky blend now and it's the pick of the bunch so far. Delicious.

Top tip from quoad there.

Question for anyone using a Bialetti moka pot. Why do the instructions say you should have it on a low heat? Being the impatient sort that I am I just stick it on the hob on full and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas?

I made my own skinny vanilla latte

Clipper Organic Medium Roast made in a cup and added to a huge mug of hot Yeo Valley skimmed milk with one capful of Waitrose vanilla essence and a level teaspoon of Tate & Lyle Fairtrade Golden Caster Sugar.

Better than Starbucks for sure.

Ethiopian Guji Gorbiche. Got a big bag from Monmouth a while back after asking the guy in the shop to 'surprise me'.

V smokey, almost sour, apparently due to sun drying the coffee cherries. Took it back to the office and everybody who tried it thought it tasted like the milk had gone off. So I took it home. Love it, but haven't seen it for sale in a while...

Can't afford Hasbean just now so onto Tesco two-for-six quid stuff:

Quite nice but I've got used to something with a bit more of a punch lately.

I was drinking :-

HUNDA OLI - Ethiopia
WAHANA ESTATE - Sumatra - frothy, "natural"...

individually and in combination - decent enough, but they've now got some Guatemala which I should get today or tomorrow :-

Introducing the Guatemalan Los Cerritos filter coffee...

Farm: Los Cerritos
Varietal(s): Catuai, Caturra & Bourbon
Processing: Fully washed
Farmer: Familia Alejos
Altitude: 1200 - 1400masl
Region: Quetzaltenango, San Juan Ostuncalco
Country: Guatemala
Farm Size: 250 acres, 214.5 cultivated with coffee

Once again, this coffee is showcasing the brilliant simplicity of brewing coffee with the humble cafetiere. The heavy body enhanced by this method perfectly compliments the intense nuttyness of this coffee. A silky mouthfeel brings to mind ground nut oil, and finishes with a chocolatey sweetness that gives great balance. Its time to set aside the fancy chemex, aeropress, the mindboggling siphon, and dust off the cafetiere to enjoy a really solid cup of coffee.

In the cup - Nutella on brown toast, with ground hazelnuts, almonds and walnut oil. Lots of nuts!

If you prefer to brew espresso style coffee at home, either in a percolator or fancy machine please choose the Guatemalan Los Cerritos Espresso from the webshop. The espresso roast profile will give you more of the caramelised sugars needed to balance the intensity of this brew method.

Guatemalan is definitely my favourite.

I have this dark roast italian stuff from tescos. It goes in the coffee pot of a morning, I go have a shit and by the time I get down the whole kitchen smells of coffee. It's nice even if it does make me a little hyper

That's interesting. I may well put an order in.

Does anyone know what type of grind I'd get for an Aeropress? Fine / Expresso?

Much coarser than espresso.

And don't use espresso blends in an aeropress.

The filter option looks reasonable - but make sure it isn't ground that fine either.

I fired off an email to Has Bean and the reply mentioned that if I put a special request in with the order they'll grind it specifically for an Aeropress - a notch or two finer.

Order placed. On the downside I no longer have an excuse / reason to ride to the next town and visit the little coffee shop on the high street.

polish brand ('prima') from the corner shop.
i think pact coffee rumbled my getting-more-than-one-cheap-coffee plan, because my second bag never arrived :(

In my case it's a haul up several hundred feet - though they actually do mail order too... I used to make a round trip to collect some other exotic stuff from that part of town.

It's probably past it's best - but last weekend (Sunday to be precise) we attended Wells Food Festival - I bought a bag of only roasted yesterday and ground in front of me - Sumatra Mandheling 100% Organic Arabica Coffee from the Bean Shot Coffee co - today is my first try - no doubt I should have drunk this by now - but it's a step up from my usual Taylors Italian 2 for £6 from a Supermarket near you - and coffee whitener not milk btw

The Guatemala is really gutsy - and I'm spinning out a bit - perhaps because I brewed it for nearly a minute instead of 30 seconds.
