What are your potential self isolation projects?

finally! my post-apocalyptic skillset finds a place

weaving, spinning, dyeing etc i'm yer man  oh and i have all the things for cooking glass, but that may be a touch more niche, maybe wait for the second stage of rebuilding civilisation for that one...

Learning some new tunes and teaching myself how to sing along with my autoharp.
Putting the sketchpad and charcoal pencils I bought last summer to good use.
Paint my doorframes.
Tidy the attic.
Sort through and scan roughly 1000 old family photographs from my late Grandparent's estate.
Sit down at the PC and put some instrumental mp3s into Paulstretch and make some soundscapes.
Give the whole lot in the picture below a good workout. Maybe practice for grade 4 competition next year-

The asbestos thing has really been on my mind especially as we are using the room more and want to decorate so I decided to get a quote based on the very little info I have about this material we’ve got.
From my description they think we have Asbestos Insulating Board which is much more complex to remove than other types as it’s fibrous. We’ve been quoted nearly £500 quid. I asked about the risks of leaving it and he said minimal but it’s not a great material to have in your house. It’s covered by a piece of MDF. Now I want it gone!
We’re going to ask a decorator friend if he knows a cheaper firm to remove it. We don’t own the house so really could ask our landlady to pay or contribute but she’s about to do our bathroom and has limited funds so this would really eat into that budget.
I think we’re going to suck it up and pay but hopefully a bit less than £500.

Our central heating keeps losing pressure so must be leaking somewhere under the glued-down floor or in a wall void. As we're isolating, I bought a 5 metre endoscope online to find the leak myself for half the price of a callout fee. Should be fun.
If you get really bored you could have fun with that scope.

My 1970s workplace is full of the stuff- mind-bogglingly used not as a fire-break, but as cheap, dimensionally stable, decorative shadow batten around the edges of every suspended ceiling.
When I first worked there in the 80s, they would drill it for cables - a bit later they used drills with bags attached...
More recently they sealed (dyed PVA I assume) and labelled it.
Nowadays the no-messing removal is factored into the rolling room upgrade programme.

Removing it is a risk. Encapusulating it is often the safest option.

Got myself a new printer as the old one has been crocked for months. I am going to write a kids fantasy / sci fi/ adventure book. Started one a few years ago and got distracted. Looks like I'll have 5 months or so to get the story written and after that I'll illustrate it.
Plan is to work on it from 9 to 4 every day with 3 breaks.

Eta....although I may get distracted

Under instruction : Lots and lots of house springcleaning ( but also  )

By inclination : A lot more reading, plus a lot more walking, but most selfishly  , constant lie-ins :D

When the weather gets better : Get the shears out and cut back on serious overgrowth in the garden.

Not like there's (m)any festivals to look forward to, in the near to long term future this year  :(

I've just had 5 days off at home. I had all manner of grand plans but I did mainly that.
Yeah.

I did a couple of days full time work. Then lazed around in PJs not washing and drinking earlier each day.

Today I woke up and cleaned/organised the kitchen with gusto. Finished that and realised that in my small flat there is about six days of cleaning/tidying left.

Likely self loathing and self loving to follow.

To be fair I did do multiple grocery forays, apocalypse freezer batch cooking, laundry, a fair bit of tidying and I even washed the car but most of the time...yeah...sofa

I've started a little project gathering all my photos and getting them on the wall. I've loads more to add yet and some more rearranging but I've made a start.

I'm so glad I decorated my room and bought the framing supplies before had to self isolate. Trying to relax in my bedroom the way it was done before would have been horrible. The walls were the worst blue I have ever seen and usually it's my favourite colour. Took 4 coats to get rid of that. And with good paint!!!!

My father appears to be close to the end of his life. He sent me his memoirs a while ago that need severe editing. So, I think that’s my project. Check out the literary awards next year :)

Sorry about your Dad mate. Its a wonderful project to have. I think it will be treasured by a lot of people for many years. I hope you find lovely things in there.

Adding to my list, teaching my niece via video chat about Hello Kitty characters & encouraging her burgeoning drumming career by pointing out not only can she use pots and pans but lids make great cymbals. Ma Mogden is less than impressed. If covid doesn't get me, she will after this morning's performance :D: :D:
