What are you having for breakfast?

At this time of day there is only one question -- Pret or Greggs? And it is still undecided.

It took the radio ads telling me that McDonald's was also there for me at chickenyawn for me to remember that this is also a theoretical possibility. But there is always a queue, and their offerings are disgusting, I seem to remember from when we had a load of freebies. The inexplicable popularity of the place may account for the decline of this country.

Do you have any neat tricks on how to peel them without it becoming a 20 minute job? Half the time the shells glue themselves to the white bit so it comes away in chunks attached to the shell. The other half they peel like a charm. I still haven’t discerned wjat makes the difference.

Smash them on the rounded end on the table so you can get in easily. Grab the membrane underneath the shell then peel round in a sort of spiral way. That gets the shell of quickly - and stops you burning your fingers. When you get about half way up you can often just lift the rest of the shell off, like a hat.

I've tried various methods of peeling the no doubt thousands of eggs I've eaten over the years and that seems to work pretty well. You do sometimes lose a bit of egg if it's glued itself to the inside of the shell but that's fairly rare.
 
Use eggs that are slightly less fresh, they'll peel easier (and are ideal for hard boiling).
 
It's every time he mentions eating eggs though, which is frequently... quite tedious now.
 
It was nearly a disaster.
Luckily at 6.15 I needed he bathroom and realised I'd forgotten to put the bread on - so it will be a little late, but hopefully worth waiting for ...
