War on Woke: Conservative Cultural Campaigning

The big difference I think, that those other things have been the stepping stones towards, is that 'woke', as in 'awareness of systemic injustice' is pretty fundamentally anticapitalist.

'Political correctness' looked issues kind of in isolation, but all roads of woke lead back to 'the problem is capitalism'. Which is why people in power hate it so much - because this time I think they are actually a bit afraid of wider society catching on, so they must make it look ridiculous and extreme.

Not so sure woke is anti-capitalist: think it fits in with identity politics and the use of virtue-signalling by corporations/bureaucracies

Well there's woke and there's woke, innit? Yes, there is performative, empty corporate woke but there is also its origin sense of awareness and response to social injustice that I think is very dot-joining about inequality, privilege and capitalism.

And identity politics? I think either everything is identity politics or nothing is. White is still an identity. Male is still an identity. It's quite ironic some people decrying others' 'identity politics' as if their doing so isn't also an act of 'identity politics', as if their identity is politically neutral.

That is a misrepresentation of my position but I realise discussion of that is futile. So, whatever…apologies for entering this minefield/echo chamber of a non-debate

Those not-easily-detachable plastic bottle tops really are shite though. But not for any reason that has anything to do with "wokeness". It's only making our lives just that tiny little bit more irritating in the name of corporate greenwashing.
Nah, I have found them really useful. You don’t lose the cap when dispensing the bottle into a glass or mug.

I've seen these mentioned a few times and really don't get what the problem is supposed to be. Unless I've not come across them, which seems unlikely. Take for example, the 500ml bottle of diet coke. If you really want, you can twist the cap to snap it off but it's more convenient to leave it attached anyway and doesn't risk dropping it.

I normally do twist it off, but it is extra messing about and you risk spillage.

If you leave it it just hangs there like an annoying awkward lump that keeps getting in the way and if you aren't careful drips on you.

Drinking from a bottle shouldn't need an real attention or thought giving to it.

I dunno what you lot are doing. I've never had the lid drip on me. Must be talking about some other kind of bottle. The ones I'm used to have had the same type of lid for yonks. Unless you're tipping the bottle upside down I can't see how you get liquid in the lid in the first place.

Had it a bag for a bit, or you need to give it a shake before drinking then you have dripping cap stuck to the bottle you are drinking out of.
