Even if it had been the best conference they'd ever pulled off, it would still have been doomed because of the context of the Truss regimes massive unforced error. And the media have all the angles they need to undermine her at every turn - the party disunity and the sense that she is woefully out of her depth, coupled with the broader sense that the tories in power are a spent force and that people have had enough.
