It doesn't affect me, as I haven't bought a drink in a plastic bottle for years. But I've seen others trying to navigate the attached lid, and it wasn't pretty.

Maybe if there were less arseholes who can't be arsed to put their lids in the bin, there wouldn't be any need for them.

The lids never used to be recyclable and I'm not sure I believe they are now (assuming they don't all go to landfill anyway).

People used to chuck the old style ring pulls on the floor for sure. You'd see loads of them around Croydon shopping streets, which is where I last recall seeing them, back in the 80's. Not so much the cans though.

My younger sister used to pick them up to collect and called them Loosies.

Unlike screw caps, ring pulls weren't designed to be replaced on the can, so I can see why people might throw them on the floor.
This must be where the Brussels idiots got the idea. They looked at ring pulls attached to the cans and thought it'd be a good idea to do the same with bottles, because they're not very bright.

I don’t like the lid thing on pop bottles either. It’s like having a hangnail, or an open drawer, or a red notification, or an empty plug socket with the switch on. They must be immediately corrected.
