urban Lib Dem voters! What do you think of what's going on?

I'm hoping that Clegg is talking to the Tories in order to say that he has and then turn around and go with Labour, wishful thinking I know but till a deal is struck with whoever I'll hold my peace.

Some poll done for the papers tomorrow show only about 30% support for a Lib/Lab government, and that basically reflects the outcome of the election and the position the LibDems find themselves in.
Hmmm. I suspect that poll. What question was asked, exactly?

WTF?

I can understand SOME people maybe disappointed, and SOME others are throwing their toys out of the pram because their rabid anti-toryism has overtaken any sense of what is fair and right, they lost and of course they are disappointed but you can't blame Clegg for the outcome.

Yeh you can; For poncing around pretending to be principled and pretending he offers change.

When what we will get is Conservatism and perhaps in return Vince will get a photocopying job in the cabinet.

Ah, the postman, who left school at 15, and as far as I'm aware has had no further education.

You really are a nasty piece of work aren't you? He was orphaned at 12, brought up by his older sister and left school at 15 to stack shelves to help bring in money to the household. What would you have done in that position?

You're a bit stupid aren't you? Labour and the Lib Dems combined vote was 52%.

And yet, far, far more successful (and well off) than you.

I would imagine most Urban Libdem voters feel a bit stupid, which is about how they should feel.

I imagine many are also gutted that the Libdem surge was actually a fantasy as many on here predicted.

In Britain (excluding a handful of Welsh and Scottish seats) there are only ever 3 options - Tory, Labour, or don't bother voting.

You're a bit stupid aren't you? Labour and the Lib Dems combined vote was 52%.

Though only 65% voted, so if you ask the voters (whether they voted or not) that's probably true, esp post Labour losing.

We'll have to try to avoid killing hundreds of thousands next time and running an unelected leader who calls his own voters names behind their backs..

I was being pedantic - I'm happy to agree he's wrong really on anything to do with this. :)

How very in-depth and no, it doesn't reflect that at all. Labour got 30% on their own. What are the other figures then?

I said 'basically', as in the majority do not want a failed Labour government returned - with or without LibDem support.

You're a bit stupid aren't you? Labour and the Lib Dems combined vote was 52%.

Better to be a bit stupid, than a total fuckwit. :)

The Tory/Lib Dem combined vote was 59%, which proportionally trumps anything else on offer.

What are the other figures then? Where's the poll?

You're moving into supporting a whig/tory alliance rather than describing it as most likely.

What was the question, though?

Did it specify that Gordon Brown would be Labour leader?

FWIW, I predict that Brown will announce he has resigned as Labour leader by early next week.

No idea, I only caught that figure as I passed the living room, I can’t find a link yet – I am sure it will show up on google soon enough.

More a case of resigned to it, as I was well before election day when I didn't think for one moment the Tories would end-up with so many seats.

You said it was 30%, it clearly wasn't. But carry on.....

Who's the fuckwit?

This parliament you div - you don't need a "moral" majority, just a workable one.

Again, better to be a div than a fuckwit. :)

The LibDems stand for PR - the idea of a true, or moral, majority of those elected working together to form a government.

Even if you throw that principle out and go with a workable majority in the present parliament under the present system:

1 - Tory/LibDem agreement - workable majority.

2 - Lab/LibDem agreement - no majority.

3 - Lab/LibDem/Green/Nats/etc. - a majority, but not workable.

How things could have been different if the LibDems had ended-up with 80-90 seats.

You said it was 30%, it clearly wasn't. But carry on.....

Who's the fuckwit?

No I didn't, the poll said 30%, not me.

I said that basically reflects the election, i.e. a majority doesn't support a Labour government.

A majority doesn't support a Conservative government. It doesn't 'basically support' what you contend at all.

You really are a nasty piece of work aren't you? He was orphaned at 12, brought up by his older sister and left school at 15 to stack shelves to help bring in money to the household. What would you have done in that position?

And quite hypocritical as well, as someone that he approved of in that position would have been praised for pulling themselves up out by their bootstraps etc etc etc

Have I said a majority supports a Tory government?

No I have not, so please don't try and suggest I have.

You've got something wrong, claphamboy – either the figure, or by quoting a dodgy poll out of context.

Admit it gracefully. :)

We should have a liberal amnesty.

Everybody who voted Liberal can come forward and admit they're a bit of a twat. We get to poke them with sticks for a while.

The poll says about 30% supports a Lib/Lab government.

48% supports a Lib/Tory government.

That basically reflects the election result, i.e. more support a Lib/Tory agreement than a Lib/Lab agreement - I've got nothing wrong at all.

Interesting that 66% said Brown should have resigned on Friday and 62% support electoral reform.

It's a yougov poll BTW, still not online from what I can see.
