The Trump presidency

Well the Washington Post found no evidence that the allegation wasn't true, just as there is no definitive evidence of a Russian role in 'hacking' the election whatever that means today.

And now we see why you have no business serving on a jury because clearly the concepts of evidence and allegations elude you. There's no evidence support the allegations the Washington Post reported on. You're asking the Washington Post to disprove unsubstantiated allegations. That's not how it works. The onus is on the party making the claim not on the person refuting the claim.

Meanwhile as I listed above, among other things, the fact that Stone had links to Gufficer, who is tied to GRU, is clearly circumstantial evidence of the hacking and we're now seeing investigations into the hacking.

Where did I do that? I said that the revelation, the veracity of which I did not pass comment on, surprised no-one as it was entirely in keeping with her corrupt, venal reputation. I stand by that.

Oh fuck off, the Lance Armstrong backpeddling award goes to maomao.

Except for the 'standard' grubby stuff like paying for Chelsea's wedding out of the charity foundation etc.

Clearly you believed it to be true otherwise you wouldn't have brought it up. Quit trying to weasel out from under your own words. Clearly you can provide other, no doubt, as meticulously sourced stories as this one, about other venal corrupt Clinton scandals.

The argument was actually that Trump made offers and promises (that he obviously has broken or will break) to sections of the population that Clinton took for granted, assumed would vote for her, made no effort to attract and was actually seen to insult. People voted in their own perceived interests as they usually do.

The people who liked and voted for Trump, liked the offers and promises that he made. They liked the idea of a Mexican wall. They liked the idea of a Muslim ban. etc.

Clinton couldn't have, and wouldn't, offer the kinds of things that Trump offered. So it's unclear what difference it would have made, for Clinton to travel to states and appear in front of these people. They didn't like her; and they liked Trump. No matter how much talking she did, she wasn't going to say the sorts of things that Trump voters liked to hear.

Trump said those things.

The Clinton campaign by contrast spent the time that it could have spent doing that in Martha's Vineyard with billionaires.

Clinton didn't hit the campaign trail? I wasn't aware that she spent all her time in Martha's Vineyard.

Even if that were true, at least it wouldn't have been deceptive.

Trump claimed to be a populist, then stocked his government with billionaires.

I genuinely think Clinton is so unpopular is because of 30 years of allegations from Whitewater to Benghazi, and people never stop to wonder why they choose to believe unsubstantiated stories like Chelsea's Clinton foundation wedding without bothering to check if the allegations have any merit

Maintaining my original position is back pedalling? I still wouldn't bet money it's not true.

Surely one of the massive mistakes made by the democrats and the media was to encourage the Trump - give him lots of time and attention - back when he was seen as a clown, before he even won the nomination.
Thinking he'd be easy to beat, that "It was in the best interest of Clinton, and therefore the Democratic Party, that Trump was the Republican presidential nominee.."

So you've no evidence at all to support the claim, and you've been shown the original claim is without substance and merit.

No no maomao you're supposed to dig up! DIG UP! UP!

For someone who hates to relive this election, you've just bought a one way ticket to the party.

We don't know. Take the Pneumonia non-story mentioned earlier. What was Clinton to do? If she had taken time off the campaign to rest, she'd have to give Trump a massive news cycle on "Clinton too weak to President". She took a gamble to work on through an illness and power through it. It was ill thought out and ill advised. But who among us hasn't done something similar?

The Bernie would have campaign are reliving 2015, and assuming everything would have brought right (or more accurately left) for the candidate, and he would have won, when there's no way to know. Personally, I don't think Sanders would have done as well people think. Yes, there was visceral hatred for Clinton on the campaign trail, but in a country where among Trump voters "socialised medicine' is a dirty word I don't see how he could have won.

And I don't see how refighting this election is relevant to this thread, which is, lest we forget, called "the trump presidency".

Agreed. I do wonder what the school level history books will say as to how this man became president though, but suppose that just depends on who'll be writing them.

The history books will blame Clinton's parents for giving birth to her: after all, that's when all the trouble began.

On Trumpcast Articles of Impeachment

A podcast investigation of if the Dems get a majority in Congress how they could impeach Trumpski.

According to this boy is Trump impeachable. Masses of potential High Crimes & Misdemeanors i.e. not actually law breaking but abuses of office. Poor old Trump almost by the nature of his businesses that he's failed to divest himself of can be seen as enriching himself in office. Any evidence of quid pro quo and he's been a very naughty boy. Given his big Queens mouth slurring private citizens like Obama that can't sue him because of his immunity is also bad. So is threatening the 1st Amendment by calling the Constitutionally protected press an enemy. Not actually stuff Trump supporters would lose much sleep over. Oddly enough say his campaign having conspired with the Russkis turns out not to be great grounds as he wasn't President at the time.

But without an unlikely 60% majority in the Senate they can't actually get rid of him. It would just be politically disabling harassment as it was in the case of Bill Clinton. Sort of thing Trump would start a war to deflect attention from.

Perhaps, though I think her prominent support did as much damage during the campaign by painting such an absurdly over the top image of her that she could never hope to live up to it.

I mean at once stage they were going around telling everyone that she was the most qualified person ever to run for office, and that her campaign was the very pinnacle of competence; but in the next breath they were saying she couldn't handle having more than one phone at a time and all their emails got leaked.

There was an element of hubris and over confidence, but that gave way to a genuine confusion, how do you fight a candidate who's got no substance whatsoever.

The Trump Administration can't even organize an Easter Egg Roll.

The Trump White House Is Struggling to Pull Off the Annual Easter Egg Roll

Washington-area public schools that normally receive blocks of tickets for as many as 4,000 children have yet to hear from the White House, according to representatives for school systems in the District of Columbia; Arlington, Va.; and Alexandria, Va. Several groups representing military families, who have accounted for as many as 3,000 guests in recent years, also said they had yet to be contacted.

Members of Congress have not received word from the White House about whether they will get tickets to distribute to their constituents. One aide to a Republican lawmaker said White House officials “seem to be a bit behind schedule.”

Funnily enough, The Wire writer and Clinton supporter David Simon made the exact same argument a week ago.
