While were on a trip down memory lane with a war theme, I used to love the opening credits COMBAT! when I was about three. Didn't have a colour TV though and I had no idea what it was about. Just looked at the page on Wiki - impressive list of cameos.

The Hillbillies was a profitable franchise: two spinoffs that I can remember: Green Acres, and Petticoat Junction. Hillbilly humor.

All that changed after Deliverance got made - and people started looking at Hillbillies in a different way.:(

I wonder if Miss Jane ever hooked up with Jethro?
She was always looking for the Yellow Bellied Sapsucker - and much later I found out it's an actual bird, and have seen them!

But, the Waltons? Okay, not comedy and not quite hillbillies, but . . .

*Liking the 60's and 70's American TV temporary takeover of this thread.* :p

Well thats never going to happen. For starts as we both know, one of the first thing a hacker does is hide his I/P address....

And? Yes of course they do but server logs and they should indicate whether or not there has been any untoward activity regardless of what IP address was used to gain access.

Not that I agree with the premise but any sufficiently competent and motivated hacker, can remove or alter logs.

Only mention because I'm reading stuff about IT security at the moment.

Mushroom cloud may be your actual summer, the way things are going. Hope not though. :(
"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars – they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." revelations 21:8.
Just the T shirt thanks, honest.:hmm:

The FBI obtained a secret court order last summer to monitor the communications of an adviser to presidential candidate Donald Trump, part of an investigation into possible links between Russia and the campaign, law enforcement and other U.S. officials said.

The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials.

During an interview with the Washington Post editorial page staff in March 2016, Trump identified Page, who had previously been an investment banker in Moscow, as a foreign policy adviser to his campaign. Campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks later described Page’s role as “informal.”

Damn: is there anyone in the Trump inner circle who doesn't have ties to Russia?

And I don't see how refighting this election is relevant to this thread, which is, lest we forget, called "the trump presidency".

This thread's also about the opposition to the Trump presidency, which makes the election relevant. The Democratic Party has a lot of soul-searching to do about what kind of party they want to be and what kind of opposition they want to present to Trump, which means looking at the reasons why Hillary Clinton's candidacy was an epic failure - especially since Trump appears to have adopted her foreign policy.

Bernie Sanders is very relevant too - in contrast to Clinton, he is still part of the government and has a powerful role in opposing Trump's policies.

re: Kansas, I see the Dems are continuing their strategy of not properly campaigning for votes and then issuing post-hoc moral condemnations of everyone who didn't vote for them. I think that I and everyone else on this thread needs a job as a liberal political consultant in America so we can monetise our pointless posting hobby/habit.

The Sean Spicer thing still cracks me up. How he kept digging. News today says that after the unfortunate incident he phoned a man called Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire jewish republican doner, to apologise to him if he has caused any offence.

I'm sure they will be just fine, the Netanyahu/Adelson position at the moment is that you are only really anti-Semitic if you are anti-Semitic and not also pro-Israel.

On Bloomberg Volatile Global Politics Arouses Bulls With Gold at 5-Month High
...
Gold slumped after Trump’s election on his promises of tax cuts and more infrastructure spending, but since mid-December prices have rebounded about 13 percent partly on worries about the unpredictability of his presidency. On Wednesday, bullion rose to $1,279.85 an ounce, the highest since Nov. 10, before trading at $1,274 by 3:29 p.m. in Singapore, according to Bloomberg generic pricing.

Goldbugs getting the fear again.

Worries that Trump won't deliver a vast juicy elite tax cut and "infrastructure spending" i.e. a fire sale of public assets that he'll pay the private sector to exploit.

Good news is Goldman says there's nothing to fear but fear itself:
...
Goldman Sachs Group Inc. by contrast sees gold declining from current levels. While a further unwinding of Trump-related equity trades and rising political tension may push prices higher in the next few weeks, improvements in U.S. growth data and an increase in real interest rates will bring them down, it said in a report dated April 12, targeting $1,200 an ounce in three and six months.
