The stupidity of the anti-vaxx nutcases

The Telegraph has consistently been pro-vaccine but exceptionally anti - restrictions, and I guess when your readership is losing millions in rent you can see why. They're supposedly who Boris listens to so maybe that's why he flits from decision to decision like an excited puppy with two bowls of food.

The Daily Mail is an odd duck. It occasionally flirts with its tabloid tendencies, lots of long form articles about lab leak theory and the like. It too is pro-vaccine though it carries Peter Hitchens columns to allow for a significant amount of arm's length plausible deniability on the more fringe beliefs.

Earlier on this thread I mentioned that my sister has suddenly, under the influence of her daughter, become an anti-vax nutjob. Her ex-husband was going to have the vax, but has since (under the influence of the daughter who lives with him) "made up his own mind" not to have it. This week he was diagnosed as having Covid and his daughter has the same symptoms, but she won´t go to the doctor for a diagnosis. My sister is in resolute denial mode about the whole thing.

It would be a case of heavy Schadenfreude but for the fact that it´s close relatives. :(

How old is the daughter if you're OK saying? And where's she got this from, do you know?

Sorry to read this.
I think lynndoylecooper was asking where your niece caught the covidiot rather than the actual virus.
Anyway, hope they all heal safely.

Sorry, I appear to have misunderstood your post. The daughter (30) was a fashion student, unremarkable in her views and tastes (social media, "reality" TV, celebs, fashion etc). with quite a talent for art, which she´d displayed from a very early age. Then, round about mid-20s, she dropped that, and decided to become a "life coach." Her Facebook page started to fill up with "aspirational" and "positive" memes and commentary. She runs courses, involving art and meditation (all well and good) but increasingly involving astrology (gobbledegook to my mind).

She must have been pecking her mother´s (my sister´s) head about all this, because out of the blue my sister dumped the husband/dad and went all New Agey, hippy bollocks, commensurate with daughter´s new interests. It was a shock to everybody, since, for the thirty years previous, she was the absolute archetype of a settled (and, being honest, a bit dull) "housewife" type. She now works in a restaurant (she never worked full-time when she was married), and, prompted by her daughter, she has fully embraced all the Covid denial/anti-vax bullshit. She argues with our mother, and tells her the "MSM" is "all lies" and then posts stuff from those impeccable agencies of impartiality, GB News and the Reform Party. She also sent me, my brother and our mum some loony internet rabbit-hole nonsense clip of an Australian "science expert" which says it´s impossible to catch a virus. For a while she went (although I don´t think she still does) to some place where they "talk" to the dead, and believes she contacted our dead father and grandmother.

I should qualify all this by saying that, since leaving her husband (a nice enough bloke, but not my cup of tea: a lukewarm tory, brexit type) she seems much happier. But this seems to come at quite a heavy price.

Been told at work not to pull any anti vaccine posters we see up as theyvmay have razor blades behind them.
Only seen stickes so far so continued to rip them down.
I use 50p coins or a key, just in case. It's worrying if they've started to do this, I'm concerned that they've never thought of using razors until the news gave them the idea.

You need to get yourself a table knife or scraper/filling knife for the job, just incase you are at risk of seriously cutting yourself - which you potentially are.

This is from Kingston, Ontario (about three hours from here).

The city is having a corona crisis - the university students are partying in numbers of close to a thousand, and no masks.

The owner of Jakks seems a tad too religious for my liking.

Kelly Hale, owner and operator of J.A.K.K. Tuesdays Sports Pub on Progress Avenue in Kingston’s west end, was heralded as a “crusader for good” by members of the page for his bold public statement – and he takes the moniker quite seriously.

“First and foremost for me, and what people have realized, is that this is a spiritual battle between good and evil,” Hale said. “I’m not going to discriminate, and I’m not going to break the law just because the government.

....is Hale worried that the government might take action against him and J.A.K.K. Tuesdays if he follows through with his declaration?

“Absolutely not, because I’m doing the right thing,” Hale asserted. “I’m following our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, our God-given rights in the constitution, and I’ve got the Lord walking by my side through this battle. I’m just one of his foot-soldiers – it’s his battle, not mine.”

Hale further went on to say that he has never worn any form of face covering while at work, and he has no plans to start doing so in the future.

With the website containing a list of which businesses will not be complying, it should be easy for the police to find them.

Quite happy for idiots like this to do harm unto themselves, but the problem is, it affects people outside the realms of their zealous little outfit.

Jakks sounds like the perfect name for that load of shite.
