The stupidity of the anti-vaxx nutcases

Mouth breathing can dry your mouth out, as well as being unpleasant this has implications for dental health. Dry teeth rot faster.

I didn't know that actually, I was only paranoid about it giving me a sore throat & bad breath :hmm: , makes sense though.
And I already have crap teeth.

As a kid I spent many hours really trying to empty my head of all thoughts, in the hope that Chocky would appear.
I never managed it, and sadly never met Chocky, but boy did I try.

The only times I think I’ve managed it were when I was at school staring out of the window while the teacher droned on about quadratic equations and when on my bike or cooking something I’ve cooked loads of times before - those are serene zen moments

Yes I seem to be able to get in the headspace when doing pottery, making a mosaic, gardening, cooking, swimming lanes in a pool... any repetitive activity which has a level of familiarity to it (as in I've done it before many times).

It happens spontaneously though, and not every time I do that activity. I can't choose to make it happen (or not).

Yeah I'm still waiting on 2nd part of assessment for autism and I strongly suspect meditation is mainly a thing for the neurotypicals.

nah I (autistic and mental) find it invaluable. Can’t do any sort of creative/deep analytical thinking without doing approx 5 minutes mindful breathing before. Went for a mindful walk earlier - focussed my attention on the feeling and sound of walking, wind on my skin, the image(s) in front of me. Reduces my stress and brings me back to a calm, thoughtful place

Oh that is interesting.

Nice one!

Whether or not I am deemed to be on the spectrum, as the saying goes "when you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person".

Wasn’t really joking. Can’t do it
I never used to, apart from a stint at life modelling. Was the stillest I've ever been, and made me feel very strange but relaxed. I've been doing short guided mindful stuff lately, and longer ocean sounds/binaural beats/rainy thunder podcasts. It's very effective at managing stress.

I'm glad it works for you. I've had several courses of CBT and 2 courses of mindfulness. I just can't concentrate/relax enough for the mindfulness.
Have you tried listening to any asmr/sleep google podcasts? I'm finding them pretty addictive. Am zoned out in minutes. They don't make me sleep but it's a form of meditation. Hugely relaxing.
