The Mrs Mills Experience - news, gigs and more

We've started a new band - a tribute to the mighty Mrs Mills. We've already blagged a gig at the Vintage Festival without even recording a demo (or even having a band, truth be told!), and our debut gig is coming up on June 1st at the Brixton Albert.

The band is made up of 80% old-school urbanites and is all about having a shedload of fun. We're even going to play the Dogstar at midnight on a full on club night and hit them with the old joanna!

I absolutely love her. Although she was a big star in the 60s, she's been virtually written out of pop history and snubbed by the groovy retro crowd - which suits me just fine!

I've been playing her stuff at my club nights for ages and they always go down really well: you'd have to extremely po-faced to not want to join in with the Lambeth Walk!

We've got gigs galore coming up, and they're all fun ones

Fri 1st JUNE
WORLD PREMIERE for the MRS MILLS EXPERIENCE
Prince Albert, 418 Coldharbour Lane Brixton SW9
Time: 9-2.30am - ADMISSION FREE
Our first gig will be at the legendary Offline Club in deepest Brixton, and accompanying us on selected songs will be the Dulwich Ukulele Club. Sharing the same bill will be our noisy friends, the awesome garage noise exponents ATOMIC SUPLEX.

Sat 9th JUNE
MRS MILLS AND PENNY FARTHING BIKES!
Smithfield Market, Farringdon, central London
Time: 3pm onwards - ADMISSION FREE
We'll be be on the main stage providing a live soundtrack to the Nocturne Series 2012 bike races - including playing along to the incredible Brooks Penny Farthing Race at 5pm Don't miss it! [Official website]

Thurs 21st JUNE
ALL ABOARD THE GO GO DANCING MRS MILLS BARGE!
Tamesis Dock, Albert Embankment, SE1 7TP
Time: 7-1am - ADMISSION FREE
We'll be taking over the Tamesis Dock boat on the River Thames, with all-girl go-go troupe The Actionettes providing the dance moves in a nautical themed evening of entertainment. Bring along your water wings and join in the fun!

Sat 30th JUNE
MRS MILLS MAYHEM ON THE DANCEFLOOR!
Brixton Dogstar 389 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton SW9 8LQ
Time: 9-4am - FREE before 10pm
Clubbers will be treated to the unexpected spectacle of the Mrs Mills Experience in full flight, performing in the middle of a packed dance floor at midnight, complete with tap dancer, party hats and streamers.

Sat 14th JULY
MRS MILLS AT VINTAGE FESTIVAL!
Vintage Festival - Boughton House, Northamptonshire
7pm Leisure Lounge stage
It's going to be a Saturday night party at one of the year's greatest festivals, with the band taking to the stage for a floor filling singalong set complete with go-go girls and tap dancers.

All the gigs are free (except the Dogstar after 10pm and the festival, obvs) so come along and sing along!

He hasn't but tbf getting a gig off him normally involves getting a random facebook message at 2 in the morning

Not sure if it'll be possible as I think there may be holiday issues with a couple of us but give me or Ed a shout as the Windmill might be fun if we can do it

I think I'll be at Boomtown then.

We've got some mad gigs booked so far:

1. Sat 9th June - Playing on the main stage at the London Nocturne bike races. We'll be accompanying the Penny Farthing bike races (!) - FREE!
2. Thurs 21st June - Tamesis Dock boat party - a nautically themed party with the Actionettes - FREE!
3. June 30th June - Playing the main dance floor of the Dogstar (with the BBC filming the show!) - FREE before 10pm
4. Sat 14th July Vintage Festival
