The gardening thread

Yeah, I should do some work out there, but it is very damp [foggy, almost] and bone-chillingly cold.

I have a "little list" to to do jobs, and with it being over damp last year some things have, basically, gone backwards.
 
Finally got the incentive to get out in the garden.

I shovelled the last ton of compost onto the veg beds. Rebuilt the compost bin and threw away or composted all the crap.

Dragged the mower backwards over it. A right scalping. Pressure washed the patio and all my pots.

Thinking of planting chilli seeds. Late spring fucked me last year for chillis though.
I didn't know until last year that chill plants will overwinter if kept warm. Tried it with this one on a windowsill, seems well enough.

Hopefully will give a headstart over growing from seed each year.

Some people advise giving them a prune to encourage fresh growth. Here in the Algarve in Portugal we can just keep them in the ground outside over winter and I always prune mine back around November if they have stopped producing fruit.
