The Championship 2018/19 thread

Fucking Villa (and Fletcher missing a pen at 1-1 )

Playoffs still mathematically doable, but very unlikely now.

Could do with a good win against Forest tonight plus some other results going our way.

Saturday's defeat even more frustrating given we won well last night

I think we need four points minimum from Leeds and Norwich away now to have a chance of sneaking into top six. So it's going to be pretty tough

I think we'll be back again next year. 3 points behind Leeds, Sharp and Basham out and we don't do play offs. Great performance coming 3rd but still hard not to be a bit deflated.

There are often odd results at this end of the season, but the promotion contenders seem to be conspiring to throw it away at the moment. Norwich, Sheff U. West Brom and Brizzle have all dropped points to bottom 6 sides recently. Reading benefited from what has become known as the Miracle of Carrow Road, but our joy at beating Brentford last weekend was dulled by Wigan, Millwall and Rotherham all getting unlikely draws. (Thanks for that Sheff U:mad:)
It's still squeeky bums at the Mad Stad - 4 points clear now, but with Bristol City, WBA and 'Boro still to play, here's hoping the top few clubs continue to drop points. To us, that is.

Bloody hell, this season is killing my nerves

I _still_ think we're going to blow up but now I'm wondering if Leeds might choke too

Wigan's win at leeds certainly the result of the day. Wigan were down to 10 men after 14 mins, but Leeds conceded 2 goals after that. Hopeless for a side with Premiership ambitions - like I said above, odd results happen at this end of the season. Great for Sheff U, but not the result we were hoping for in Reading. Anyway, decent away point for us. Safety beckons, but it's still tight. WBA up next on Monday. Rotherham have to recover from losing to Swansea despite leading twice, but have a winnable home game v Brum.

Looking forward to participating in this forum again next season. I’m Fulham. I’ve missed you all (and the championship generally).

Anyone heard from sealion recently? He seems quiet these days.

 That's the attitude.
Personally, I'm desperately hoping to be on this next season. (Reading)
Sealion has been absent, which is a shame. I believe he has his reasons, but he seemed well when I saw him at the xmas perineum drinks, albeit that's 4 months ago.

If only we'd had Fernando earlier in the season, what a thundercunt of a strike...

Draw the fair result given our 2nd goal, but still a sickener to concede at the death.

And, relax.

OK, not mathematically safe, but Rotherham now need to win their remaining games and we have to lose both AND they need to overturn a 13 goal difference advantage. Thank feck.

Blues are staying up, no annual last day miracle this season! Happy i suppose, but a leedle part of me almost wishes we went down, daft as that sounds. Think we will sell Che Adams for big bucks which will put us on a better financial keel, hope we can keep Gary Monk and see how it goes next year, though no doubt we will contrive to balls it up somehow! Sigh, sometimes it's crap supporting a rubbish team innit.

It's character building!
And every now and then something good happens (or avoiding something shit happens and it feels like something good).

As a Blues fan it is always a relief to get to 50 points. So pleased that the EFL (and our rubbish owners) allowed us to celebrate this achievement twice.

For those of us likely to be supporting Championship teams next season, who do we want to join us?

Coming down - looks fairly straightforward in being Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff.

From League One - Luton look like doing it. Being London-based I'd like to see Charlton make it, plus Barnsley (as Wednesday often take six points off them)

Agree with you about the three coming up... Sunderland and Portsmouth in division 3 for another year would make me chuckle.

Yeah, he's done great. The core of the team was in league one so he's done brilliantly with them.

Hope the ownership arguments don't make him leave... Would be a very united way to balls up

I dislike Leeds as much as everyone else, but what Bielsa did today was fantastic. Hope they go up now, especially if the alternative is Lamps or JT going up instead.

Yes, like octagon, I hate to admit it but have to respect what United have achieved over the past few seasons.

With a bit of luck Leeds will balls up the play offs.

Hope Wednesday can put in more of a promotion challenge next season - I'm optimistic with Steve Bruce in charge.
