The Championship 2018/19 thread

Table looking a lot better for Wednesday than it did in January, fair play to Bruce, I wasn't convinced but he's done a great job since taking over.

Rubbish goal difference and some tough teams to play though, otherwise I might even be thinking a cheeky run to the play-offs ;)

I've got £50 on you going up :D

I put a tenner on us going up when Bruce was announced - its a long shot, but beat Blackburn on Saturday and who knows. Think Bruce doing a pretty good job so far - we were excellent in the second half last night

As for Leeds vs Utd - i really don't know who i want to lose more! :)

Risky stuff if you stay 3rd and we sneak into 6th :D

What odds did you both get?

Just looked on Betfred and we're at 100/1 to be promoted.

Hmmmm....

Fool.Money.Parted, etc.
I've just stuck another fiver on that.... you're on a decent run and are well in hitting distance of playoffs and if you squeak in to sixth you've as good a shout as anyone...

... and if you end up playing us youre nailed on to win

^^ That guy's week is still not as bad as ours! You've just got to laugh, being a bluenose sucks at times, but i'd still much rather support us than some dullards i could mention, or anyone else tbh. Word is we're looking at a 12 point reduction which would put us at risk of relegation again, after being on the cusp of the playoffs for a while, not to mention possibly games being played behind closed doors. As we often say, only at blues.

Football-wise, I think we're just a slightly over-achieving small budget squad getting tired as we reach the business end of a long season. Monk has worked minor miracles but he must be wondering what madness he walked into! (Though he seems to genuinely 'get' us and seems a good fit here.) It's funny how a manager can fail at one place and do a great job at another fairly similar club. If it wasn't for him, we would be relegated for certain. Good manager, will he stay next season?!

Still, nothing would make me lol more than Bruce getting Wednesday up at the expense of Vile. I would laugh like a drain (and can see it happening too.)

That was a big result in the Leeds v Utd game.

Meanwhile, Wednesday continue to improve. Another really good second half performance - run in looks tough, but at least Bruce has given us some impetus for next season.

Hope the international break doesn't kill our momentum (could help getting some of our stretched squad a rest tho), we have to play all our play off rivals so partially in our own hands now.

So, it's a nine point reduction - fairly happy with that tbh, was expecting 12. Not sure if we are still under transfer embargo though. I suppose it's set a precedent though, i wouldn't be surprised if a few other teams breach FFP rules. Would be typical blues if we got relegated now, but i think we've got enough to stay up, just about!

BBC saying that there's no transfer embargo, so looks like that's the end of it (as long as you stay up).

Would imagine there's a few other clubs more concerned than they were a few days ago. Wouldn't surprise me if Wednesday got caught up in this given comments from the Chairman a while ago.

All gone a bit quiet on here. Looking very much like two out of top three for automatic now.

Wednesday have Villa and then the Florists at home in the next week - got to win both of those i think to have any chance of top six

Meanwhile at the wrong end of the table Reading are now a massive 4 points clear of the remaining relegation slot (working on the basis that Bolton and Ipswich are doomed). A mini-league of 5 candidates has developed, with Brum dragged into a relegation dog-fight by virtue of their nine point deduction.
Reading seem to be improving - a couple of injured players are back, and I am told we now have something that passes as a midfield.
We have a tough run in, but as things stand I expect to be posting on this thread occasionally again next season.
