The Anti-Imperialism of Fools - a General thread

Can you answer the questions which I posed to you previously?

It's up to you of course, but my advice to quiquaquo is to ignore J Ed. He's a wanker, with zero interest in a serious discussion, he just want to take the piss. There's nothing to be gained from engaging with him, and most of us just tell him to get lost.

I'll give that a 7/10 on troll-o-meter. Not as good as "islam is not anti-gay" but you are really on a streak the last few days. Now you'll defend quiquaquo cos he's apparently on your side in being an apologist for Islam and all it's despicable beliefs.

No he isn't, and it's further testimony to your ignorance that you'd imagine he is. Speaking of which, can you be more specific about what you mean by this:

Islam and all it's despicable beliefs.

Which "despicable beliefs" are these, and how do you know about them? Have you read the Koran for instance?

Basically, it's like this.

It's alright for a man to have sex with a man in Islamic culture. Islamic countries are far more tolerant in this regard than Western ones. Any young man who has traveled in the Islamic world can testify to having received numerous unsolicited advances of the kind that simply would not be publicly tolerated in the West. It's like being a girl iyswim.

What is unacceptable is for a grown man to be the bottom. That is considered effeminate. This was also the case in the ancient world: Julius Caesar had a lot of trouble because of a rumor than he had played Ganymede to the King of Pontius or somewhere. It wasn't the fact that this had been gay that was problematic, it was because he had allegedly been the bottom.
You continue making my case for me.

And you demonstrate how hopelessly confused your idea of an 'Islamic culture' is. To quote Zinab el-Rhazoui again, 'there is more to being an arab than being muslim'.

There is more to arab cultures than Islam. To understand those cultures you have to go beyond Islam because certain aspects of the cultures will flatly contradict Islamic teaching. IE they're not Islam. You have things backward: Islam is a part of the culture, and one that exists in tension with other parts; Islam is not the culture itself. And you cannot hope to understand the places, and the diversity across countries with majority Islam as their religion, without understanding this, without separating the religious beliefs from the culture.

You're really hopelessly confused. I'm going to patronise you here a bit: read Zinab el-Rhazoui. Think about what she says. And take a position of humility towards it.

Number of Islamophobic idiots giving it large on Muslims and Islam on here beggars belief.

There I agree. This one's not quite as bad as the other two, but really. How anyone can write this and deny being a racist is beyond me:

Islam and all it's despicable beliefs.

Once again Flavour, can you tell us how you found out about these "despicable beliefs" please? Did you read them in the Koran?

She seems like a right Quisling to me. That humble enough for you?
You've not even fucking read the article, have you?

Shame on you. The arguments you've put forward on this thread would be laughable if they were not so utterly contemptible. You're a coward, throwing around accusations because you have nothing coherent to say.

I read it this morning. An impassioned open letter to a Frenchman who sympathizes with Islam, describing the oppression she allegedly faced growing up in Morocco.

I'm afraid it just chimes too conveniently for comfort with what the murderous governments of the West want people like her to say. They're dragging out any old malcontent they can find in the Islamic world, pouring money over them and strapping them in front of computers, then blasting whatever they come up with across the world. Propaganda in other words.

Theres many diffrent flavours of islam and culture.
but the Extra hard core saudi blend has a fuck ton of money behind it though and is trying to become dominant whichh is bad news for everyone:(
Especially as outside of saudi the house of saud cant reign in its more "enthusastic" followers.
Its like giving ian pasley or the lunatics from westboro a billion dollars not going to end well.

The "House of Saud" contains tens of thousands of people, with a wide range of political views. Many of them support ISIS. The difference between ISIS and Paisley is that ISIS have massive popular support, and know how to mobilize it.

Btw the man responsible for enriching the House of Saud was Kim Philby's father. That family must have done more harm to the UK than any other in history. Apparently the present generation are lovely though.

Meant the stAte of saudi though thats basically the house of saud not exactly winning any awards but better than isis give old ian a billion dollars and you could see his popularity soar:(

so families like the stuarts, the hanoverians, the saxe-coburg-gothas, the windsors - the harm they caused over centuries by contrast insignificant with the harm caused by two philbys.

are you sure?

Let's see. The father stops the UK getting the Saudi oil concession, gives it to the USA instead. The son gives all our secrets to our mortal enemy, prolonging the Cold War by three decades.

Yep, I'd say the Philbys take the biscuit.

you've not learned anything from *recent threads* when you've been shown to be, er, economical with the truth then. it's strange it's the philbys iyo and not any of the soviet spies in the american ranks who had such a great effect on world politicks.

You doing this for a bet?

"clears throat":

In this month's issue of Personality and Individual Differences, a study was published (link is external) that confirms what we all suspected: Internet trolls are horrible people.

Let's start by getting our definitions straight: An Internet troll is someone who comes into a discussion and posts comments designed to upset or disrupt the conversation. Often, in fact, it seems like there is no real purpose behind their comments except to upset everyone else involved. Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.

What kind of person would do this? Some Canadian researchers decided to find out.

They conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people, giving personality tests to each subject along with a survey about their Internet commenting behavior. They were looking for evidence that linked trolling with the "Dark Tetrad" of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism.

They found that Dark Tetrad scores were highest among people who said trolling was their favorite Internet activity. To get an idea of how much more prevalent these traits were among Internet trolls, see this figure from the pape

Heh. I really don't think you want to go there do you?

It's not strange at all. Philby was able to become the most effective spy in history because he was part of the old boy network, and so trusted completely by his colleagues, many of whom had been to school and university with him. There's no equivalent in the USA.

you certainly don't with your nonsense about e.g. diana and your lies about me.

so what you're saying is that the secrets philby provided prevented an early resolution of the cold war. based on er fuck all, from the looks of things. klaus fuchs not even a look-in from the sounds of your (hollow) argument.

*coughs* Harvard and ivy league.

Yeah, I know. Losing your temper with a troll is like sending out an army to do battle with the wind.

I'm weak. Think he might have to go on ignore.

I told no lies about you, and you know it. I'm not going to address the subject again, for your sake.

I don't think there's much dispute that Philby was the single most effective spy in history, or that he prolonged the Cold War. The invasion of Albania alone would have made a massive difference--and that's one of his less significant operations.
