The 2023 Russian Coup.

I recognise the analogy with the Cuban revolution in terms of how things snowball. The one that occurs to me is Mengistu's collapse in Ethiopia whilst having the largest and best equipped military in Africa at the time.

There has to be machinations outside Wagner propelling thus momentum, surely?

I know nothing btw...
Sorry this is not the time for analogies

Lukashenka's press office has reported that Luka has negotiated with Prigozhin, who supposedly then agreed to "stop the movement of the Wagner and take further steps to de-escalate tensions."

Stranger things have happened but I can't believe it.

ETA Oops, missed Flavour's post above.

What's that comedy war film where the people have a variety of flags to string up depending on what occupying/liberating forces are passing down their streets?
Not as outlandish as it seems in the Russian context. I still have stored somewhere letters and photos taken during the bombardment of the duma in '93 by one of the many who potentially risked their lives turning out to watch the action. What the fuck were you doing there? I asked when I wrote back. 'Seeing how it was going and trying to decide which side to be on,' she said. I'm not sure she was entirely joking.

There’s ‘security guarantees’ in the statement re Wagner as I read it .

Don’t think he (massive mercenary) cares about ‘wrong’, just what’s the motivation to continue, especially if you’re a logistics man & realist. It was Putin’s thing.

he defend the war in previous remarks saying the Ukrainians are genetically Russian

so not looking like a peace nix

If Putin doesn't immediately terminate Prigozhin with extreme force he's done for for isn't he. But similarly Prigozhin must know he's fucked if he backs down?

This is a level of five dimensional chess I don't really understand. It seems colossally stupid on all sides......

He has backed down.

Surely Prigozhin has lost any and all creditability now.

Are Putin, Prigozhin and Lukashenko in some kind of dramatic teenage love tryst? Drama queens ffs.
