Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson is an embarrassment to journalism

TBF, I don't believe anything Sikora says, the self-aggrandising dog's ringpiece.

I havent bothered to try to find a way to read the latest pandemic shite from Pearson, but the headline "What is the point of saving lives if you lose all vestiges of humanity?" invites me to respond "You tell me, since you got ahead of the game by losing of all vestiges of humanity long before this pandemic"

her family has form - you should see the telegram her grandfather sent neville chamberlain on the outbreak of ww2 (it's in the national archive). it will not be a shock that it was in the same vein.

TBF he might have had a point - yes, the country postponed being ruled by eugenicist bellends by winning ww2 but here they are again.

Someone needs to point out this sort of thing to her as well. Except it wont make any difference because she is just looking for any shit that she thinks serves the agenda.

The quality-adjusted life year or quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) is a generic measure of disease burden, including both the quality and the quantity of life lived. It is used in economic evaluation to assess the value of medical interventions. One QALY equates to one year in perfect health.

I first started my pandemic nerdy thread (that I havent had time for recently due to too much pandemic news) with a document that relied heavily on QALY estimates when considering the various effects of lockdown: #1

I hadnt heard of QALYs before I read that document. Some of the tables in that report are fascinating, not least because of all the areass where they think the short-term impacts involve an increase in quality adjusted life years, not a decrease! (although plenty of those are reversed by long term effects in their estimations).

'All those people were gonna die anyway'

Everyone 'dies anyway' lol.

I don't think I've seen anyone take such a cavalier attitude with their own elderly or vulnerable relatives. And if they did, then their sociopathy would be obvious for all to see.
