Sunak wants to phase out legal smoking

But the shops you are mentioning are not 'proper' vape shops....these are the 'dodgy' shops that have proliferated over time and literally don't give a shit. My local proper vape shop doesn't have anything in their window and only sell legal vapes with strict I.D. compliance. I have come off smoking to vaping....i like the fruity flavours as i don't want to be reminded of smoking......people keep saying that these things are marketed at kids but how ?

I think anything that's 'fruity' and sweet is accused of being marketed at kids. Just like how hooch and other alcopops had the media in hysterics back in the 90s.

Not that that's entirely unjustified btw, but I don't buy that just because vapes can now come in all flavours it automatically qualifies as 'marketing to kids'

The fruit thing is more about a general 'healthier' association isn't it. Colours and fruit flavours might sell sweets to actual kid kids but not to teenagers trying to be cool.

“Better” is relative. Smoking is about as terrible for you as it is possible to imagine anything being, short of jumping off a building. So is vaping less mind-bogglingly awful than smoking? Probably. That’s hardly an endorsement, though.

So what? Its massive amounts better than smoking is.

are vapes definitely better? I thought it was still hard to tell.

but my main issue with vapes is they seem designed for, and marketed at, teenagers. the rows of vapes in shops look like sweets or toys. crazy.
No people just like different flavours, I have red cola, doesn that sound like a teenager flavour? Maybe, am I over 40 and don't like the tobbaco one? Yes.

Not for the vast majority of the population that still have to breathe in others' excrement.
Try following a tractor or being near somewhere crop spraying.
Also exhalation of a fruit flavour is not remotely excrement, I went to London and had black nostrils, can vape for years and not have that occur

Nope, there's no crossover in our hobbies: strangely I choose not to pursue either of those. Besides which, there's not much call for either in central London.

Exhalation is exactly that. Excreta. In this case a cloud of poisonous chemicals (DOI:10.1021/acs.chemrestox.4c00088). But, fret not, I don't expect anyone sufficiently short-sighted and selfish to smoke (via any means) to make the connection.

OK but where I live (London) there are lots of what you are calling 'dodgy' ones and hardly any of the 'proper' ones...

look at the kids toy sections. or kids food. all the bright colours and crazy flavours. it's the same as the vapes. it's not a coincidence. "A quarter of 11 to 15-year-olds have tried vaping" according to NHS.

True...there are whole streets here that are just shop after shop with them in the window...everyone knows where to go to buy illegal vapes, the black market is huge....i was always of the opinion that this is more of an enforcement problem, if there aren't enough people to enforce it it will be almost pointless so the only ones affected will be responsible retailers....the owner of my local shop says she would be quite happy to pay to be licensed.

Resulting to insults and pedantry is hardly a strong argument.
As much fun as pedantry potentially can be, I think you'll find that people may be considered to resort to that.

Irrespective, I tend to find that peer-reviewed scientific research helps underpin a strong argument.

Oh no autocorrect failure. Wow you're an ass, this discussion came off the back of me saying my dad died. You figure let's pile on. I hope you have the day you deserve. Think ignoring you will solve this.
