Suella Braverman's time is up.

Lots of Braverman banners today. I wonder how many more people were convinced to make the effort because of her.

Sky interviewed this smartly dressed, somewhat posh, middle-aged white woman, who said she had only come out to prove to Braverman it's not a hate march.

When asked if she would have come out if Braverman hadn't been banging on about it, she said, probably not.

Spectacular own goal from Nutella indeed. Let's see her dig her way out of this. Leadership challenge? No chance now.
The Guardian ( yeah I know ) reckons she wants the sack. Makes her a true right wing rebel and she dissociates herself from the weak Sunak government . Starmers going to win but his handling of the Gaza Crisis made him look like a rabbit in the headlights.
i suspect there will be a few more crisis for him to bottle.
He we be even more discredicted in the spotlight.
The following election in strides “ tough leader in a crisis “ Braverman.

However; yes, this is kind of the angle that she is going for and she does not give a shit what anyone thinks, except those that might vote her in as leader of the opposition/leader of the fuck me somehow they got in again.

Power is all she cares about. Not how it is held or in what capacity.

When there's videos of fash throwing shit at cops and chanting 'who the fuck is allah' it might be a struggle to sell that angle.

Doesn't mean they won't try it anyway of course.

'Normal patriotic Brits scared off of streets by Pro-Palestine protests'. Reckon they'll bury the trouble deep down in the memory hole, no margin for them in it.

Braverman is so thick. She thinks she can repeat what Trump did in stirring up the far right, and actually get the leadership from it. But the big difference between the US and here is that there is a huge Christian right that is fash-adjacent and that votes in enormous numbers. That bloc has been cultivated ever since the 80s and has significantly infiltrated/taken over the Republican party. The success of stirring up the far right in the US is almost entirely down to the fact it stirs up the powerful Christian right bloc, which, and this is really important, DOES NOT EXIST IN THIS COUNTRY. And thank god ;)

Sunak looks pretty bad here too. She was obviously promoted far above her capabilities and he can't really blame anyone else for that.
She's an unpopular populist.

I still can't imagine her making it as leader, my guess is that she's angling to be Farage's right hand if he rejoins and runs. Then again he's apparently off to do I'm a Celebrity, so maybe not.

Pretty certain that someone will be offered a peerage in return for stepping down. By election with Farage as candidate. All within a year.

Even they wouldn't be that stupid - not only would it result in most of the top of the party being removed, Nigel would lose the by-election anyway.
