There are many versions of democratic government, and Sri Lanka’s democracy has survived all along since independence in 1948 in spite of severe upheavals like Tamil Tiger civil war and Sinhalese JVP insurgency. The Sri Lanka’s democracy is unique and a true democracy because there are very little impacts of party politics. The Sri Lanka parliamentary democracy has undergone some reformation in the turn of the century, and is the epitome of coalition government not because of a state of minority government or hung parliament, but because it is true democracy at work. To cut a long story short, the current Prime Minister is the leader of the opposition.
