Smack A Whiteboy: Mentalist US identity politics.

There used to be a similar notion, in Britain, of being politically black. I know a white Jewish man (atheist of Jewish family history) who was told by a south London housing co-op that he counted as black. This worked to his advantage, since they were looking for new 'black' members, not white ones.

At my second job they recently hired an "asian" kid because they could get a grant to pay his wages. The kid's last name: O'Reilly.

Actually good point, after I left the Romanian roma's houses that had been attacked I went back home and bricked my own windows as a critique of white privilege.

'Come out you crimethinc scum
come out and face me like your mum!
Show your mates how you won dreads down in Boston!
And how some random anarchos
knocked a few of yo sparkos
and chased you from the green and lovely etc'

The twat-brained action did at least demonstrate one thing, i.e. that crimethinc are all mouth and trousers and are no fucking use whatsoever. Any organistion of equal militancy to the WI would have thrown the muppets out of the window and got back to what they were doing.

Also, if I were in an organisation that included 'persons of colour' (blech) and other POCs invaded on such specious grounds, I would be pretty fucking disappointed in my comrades if the chose to stay and caucus with the intruders rather than leave on principle with the people whose meeting they had chosen to attend. Even if it was something as bollock-witted as a crimethinc caberet (the mind boggles).

crimethinc caberet! :D no wonder no ones takes Anarchism seriously

Jeff Monson does not approve

a bunch of twats from the US engaging in twattery is hardly a grand refutation of anarchism, mind.

It just proves that the yanks have fucked themselves by seling a dream of freedom and practising a reality of racially economic divides.

I've read the one about the Irish before, it really underlines how racism is inherant to American culture.

It was built on racism really.

I agree racism has always been a part of american culture. But to say the country was built on racism is just superficial. How unique is it really when compared to the UK where it's about class (hereditary) and ethnicity? I get a kick out of the 19th century "Irish" identified as "the Irish" as in Irish Americans. Out of all the Irish immigrations to America the latecomers were the most anglicized of them all culturally speaking. The the needs to be gone. There were 'Irish' already here when "the" Irish were herded like cattle onto the ships.

Classism isn't racism. And the ethnic tension within the UK was different than the 'racism' used to found America. This has it's origins specifically in the needs of slavery and colonialism. I do think of the English having 'practiced' on the Irish first before rolling out colonialism further afield though. But slavery wasn't part of that.
