Side-by-side cycling

Private hire drivers and couriers would suffer most, the black cab drivers could probably force a rate rise. But drivers who depend on an office to book work would depend on the company they work for a) agreeing to a fare increase and b) passing it on to the drivers. Given the level of competition and the (non-existent) ethics of the industry they'd lose out big time just as they do every time fuel prices go up.
Every company would be faced with the same problem, so competition shouldn't enter the equation.
Do you think people who only drive 1000 miles a year should subsidise taxi drivers?

Cyclists don’t cause us, as an organisation, problems, that’s because they aren’t causing our communities problems, they aren’t killing nearly 100 people on our regions roads as mechanically propelled vehicles currently do. Yes we do get complaints of the “nuisance” variety, pavement cycling, some anti-social behaviour (usually yobs on bikes rather than “cyclists”), red light running etc. but you get the idea, most peoples interpretation of “1st world problems” or the “modern day blues”, nothing that’s a priority for a force like our own in a modern day society.
Blimey, 4 years ago now. WMP have been a leader on this stuff for longer than I’d realised.

The way I’d do it given a blank piece of paper would be a base tax on each vehicle that would cover a state backed 3rd party insurance. Then I’d have a yearly charge based per mile driven, linked to emissions, so 5000 miles in a Micra would be a lot cheaper than 5000 miles in a Mustang. Plus the tax on fuel as it is now.

In short, driving would become fucking expensive.

State run insurance could potentially save people a lot. Unless they have overpowered bellend cars that are far more likely to crash because a) they're overpowered and b) they're driven by fucking bellends.

Most cyclists are dangerous. When they're not mowing down pedestrians they're involved in accidents with cars.
You can of course provide statistics and costings for the above?

Presumably if the issue is as serious as you make out there will be multiple studies and reports detailing it all. I guess even various insurance companies will have come out with documents showing how they can profit from it. Can’t wait to read them!

Except in reality a rate rise would be entirely dependant on whether the largest player in town was willing to up rates or not. I've seen this happen time after time with fuel price rises and it's always the drivers that lose out.

I have, but if you can't figure out how this information might be obtained then it's probably no use to you anyway.
You've proffered some auld bollocks which didn't mention the statutes involved, and appeared not to have been written by a lawyer (or indeed an English speaker) and which wouldn't impress anyone with even basic critical thinking skills. So, not an authoritative source.

Looks like a snide page, probably set up by that lad caught driving around in a fake cop car.
Even the Follow us on Twitter link takes you to a non-existent Twitter account, and the last post on the site was 2018. Definitely not legit.

My mate's a copper. He said it, so it must be true.

Glad you agree.
Here's a few legit ones.

Have you seen the cost of liability insurance for cyclists?? Clearly cyclists are the biggest danger in the world given how expensive it is and how much it clearly costs the insurance companies to pay out for all those mown down pedestrians. Cheaper to get insurance on a fully commissioned and working tank, with explicit use for urban warfare.

also for anyone else reading this thread that WMP wordpress site was 100% done by the two officers who started the operation close pass and is totally legit, even though it's no longer updated.
