Side-by-side cycling

over the past few weeks i've been counting the number of cyclists who pass me on my walk home, and the proportion of cyclists without any lights generally varies between 1/7 and 1/5: although today fully a third (27/80) of the cyclists who passed me weren't sporting any lights. of these 27 5 were deliveroo cyclists while any affiliations of the other 22 are unknown. only one of these cyclists (unlit) was on the pavement.
What time do you walk home?

between 5-6
Fucking hipsters in Hackney. Dunno. Before the Rona I used to walk from either Canning Town or Canary Wharf (or sometimes Greenwich North for a challenge) all the way to the arse end of Millwall and I almost never saw a commuter without lights and yes I was looking. But I started at 6.30 am which is serious commuter time. Maybe the 5pm crowd has more part time cyclists. They won't live long cycling on roads without lights.

However when I did see a cyclist without lights I wasn't ignorant enough to blame all cyclists for it. Even in the worst case scenario that you've described the vast majority are riding legally. Deliveroo are a scourge though. There's a Deliveroo rider round here wears full body armour to ride on the fucking pavement. He doesn't do it near me anymore though for reasons I won't expand upon.

i haven't blamed all cyclists for it either. when i started counting tbh i expected to find the vast majority to be 19/20 so it has been a great surprise to find that it's in the region of 15-20%: which if reflected across london is a fuck of a lot of people even if 80-85% are using lights.

No. I live a more fulfilling life now and don't spend my daytimes looking at my phone under my desk trying to get into fights anymore. If you'd like a scrap, try me round Christmas.
that's really poor. i've never been reduced to warring on my phone under my desk, it's always been on my work computer. i never realised you were treated so shabbily at work that you couldn't have a barney on the boss's internet ((((maomao)))) :(

I know. When I started there I had to upgrade my phone just to get some abuse in. And it was far from the worst thing about that workplace. I used to have to check my mortgage before walking through the door in the morning to remind myself why I was there (it did pay quite well). Anyway, much happier now like I said.
