I find the talk about paints really interesting. I never have any idea about paint colours and what works.

There's a lot of paint out there, and a lot of inspiration, it's making the choice that's hard. There's actually too many gorgeous pictures out there for everything, I just found a great tiles shop for when I'm living in my Italian villa.

Absolutely 👍🏼 I think we only have tomorrow to do it as moving in on Monday 🤦🏽‍♀️ Got rollers etc but no paint yet ha ha 😇

I also think it will be hard to land on a different colour until you do the tiles, if you did go for green tiles, it might look good with earthy plaster (not too pink) coloured walls, and plants, especially with that lovely floor. But depends on your style and your furniture and pictures and tings.

It's gorgeous anyway :)

Well, I think it's perfectly ok and you shouldn't rip it out. I'd get rid of the weird looking gnome head thing you've got on the mantlepiece in the first photo though.

See that it seems to be sticking a finger up? That's for the likes of you, that is :D

Spent a week with a friend from Junior school ( left in 1978) doing this Billy bookcase modification. Just one thing missing now…

Billy bookcase hack x 2, inspired by and with advice from our resident plane A380

Alcove just a touch wider than 4 x 80cm Billies. MDF facing with routed channels for the bits that sit a bit forward, eliminating all shadow gaps. Every join completely seamless, not a single nail hole, just a lick of paint and skirting board away from being ready for ALL THE BOOKS

That looks absolutely fantastic! Did you manage to fix all the facings with just adhesive and so avoid filling a million nail holes?

This plinth was totally covered by a shed. We're about to take the last remains to the dump. Gsv's looking to maybe get the concrete polished to use as a patio before we add a significantly smaller shed in one corner (and somehow remove that bit of wiring coming out of a pipe). If polishing isn't a goer, we'll tile it instead.

You can stencil it if it’s nice and flat. I’ve seen some that look really good but no idea what paint you’d use.

If that wiring is ok to use, carefully consider if you really want to get rid as having a bit of electric at the bottom of the garden can be a very useful thing. Not now necessarily but if you've already got it there, it would save hassle and cost, should you change your mind at a later date. :)

Oh, the power to it was killed long ago!

That's a thing of absolute beauty there. I want one 😀

Nice! Not sure what we'll land on as a solution - probably start with finding out what a polisher might recommend we do.

We're finally getting round to decorating the living room after 12 years of living here.
We slapped some paint on it when we moved in, but it seemed pointless doing much else before we'd sorted out the crappy, undulating, artexed ceiling.

That's been done now

Probably my biggest diy project to date ouside of working for my dad as a teen. Part of the humongous house renovation itself but by far the biggest job so far. I have psyched myself up for this for months.

Taking the slate roof off, rebuilding part of the roof, insulating it and then relaying the slate over new felt and batten.

Had my 84 dad here sanding down the new oak bardge boards.

Finn Larden learning some tool craft and earning some pocket money getting dirty and fit.

Narnia making the brews and bagging the waste in between trying to work with me cussing and swearing inches above her loft office desk.

It's a family affair. Me Ma even turned up with some cucumber for the sarnies 🤣

Apparently some people use their annual leave to sit in the sun and do nothing.
