Well, you are entitled to your view. I am, it would seem, somewhat more libertarian than you, I don't much approve of banning things simply because you don't like them. You are also a bit naive, were you to ban private education, the schools would move elsewhere.

It's disingenuous to frame this as a question of libertarianism - private education systemically excludes those deemed unworthy (nobody questions why the inhabitants of Slough should be prevented by force from availing themselves of some of the textbooks of Eton, for instance). The other narratives are familiar - perversity and impossibility (attempting to implement change will injure those one is attempting to help / nothing is ever accomplished). Fails to acknowledge that the state violently suppressed Catholic education in this country, leading to a massive shift in public sentiment over centuries. In Ukraine travelling bands actually implemented proletarian cultural programmes with remarkable success.

Ok, is any of your 'collection work' farmed out to private companies. I ask because every month i get a number of phone calls demanding money,when I explain the matter is in dispute and the issue is on Hold until it's resolved and offer to supply details of the dept handling,it they say that's not part of their remit and still try to get me to cough up!
