Self-indulgent pet thread

Stanley has had his checkup and is doing well- as I would hope given he has been hand fed roast chicken every day since he got back to encourage his appetite and smuggle in his umpteen pills. So well in fact that for the first time since we've had him (3 years), he is sleeping on the sofa. Which of course we aren't stopping because: we are soft/he's been v ill/ it looks cute. He only gets turfed off if we want to sit there, which seems fair. He is also enjoying the chicken so much that he is turning his elegant nose up at anything that isn't chicken.

*looks into the future and foresees post by TikkiB complaining about sitting on the floor while Stanley sits/lies/sprawls on the settee... which will seem fair ...:)

Good news at about Stanley, though!

The bugger has started to standing very close (as in his nose on my fingers as I type this) to me when I am sitting on the sofa and then the moment I get up, he nips on. I turfed him off earlier and he promptly went and pissed in the kitchen, in fact we've had a lot of wee accidents since he came back, in spite of his routine being pretty much back to normal. I'm not sure whether to be patient or start worrying.

Knowing the houndies I know, be patient

Does 'nip on’ mean 'staying close to your heels and following everywhere?’ Awwww; I don’t know much about dogs – Stanely was a dog, right??? :hmm: - but I think he partly wants to show you his adoration and he partly needs re-assurance. Nooooow; as for the weeing? Maybe he thinks: 'Hmm, unwell -> extra treatment -> special meat -> special beddy -> must wee somewhere and receive special things!'?

The dogs of two of my friends will do pretend wee squats in the garden for their 'Oh you good girl for alerting me about needing a wee; here is a treat.’ carrot/dogstick. They just don’t have a sense of time and the squat, when pretend, will last a fraction of a second. So they get caught out!

by nip on, I meant he jumps straight onto the sofa, but he's stopped now, just seems to sleep on it at night. There was definitely a bit of battle of wills going on for a bit. I woke him up to turf him off the other day so i could sit down and he straightaway went for a piss in the kitchen. I caught him at it so could legitimately tell him off, and fingers crossed things seem a bit more settled.

Love the story about the pretend wees :D

Finally got a pic of Rambo looking cute

Reminded me of a much much cuter version of Serious Cat! :)

BTW, Breeze wasn't impressed by Rambo (the movie) at the weekend (see above.) I realised I had never seen it, then quickly realised just why!

How do you make sure they don't run away, when you're away from home, CRI ? :hmm:
Well, the piggies stay indoors and if they do "graze" it's only for a few minutes under supervision. They tend not to run away but towards me or OH if they get spooked. Never let them get much more than arm's length away. Breeze only goes out with a jacket and lead on and to be honest, she's not terribly adventurous outdoors. I think since she spent most of the first 3 years of her life indoors, she still finds the great wide open spaces a bit suss.

I'm being a silly billy here, but I don't know how to move jpg's from my computer onto Urban75. If anyone can give me any hints there might be ferret pictures in it for you.

Hope everyone's critters are well.

If they're small enough, you can click 'upload a file' then browse to the pic on your computer, and click 'open'. You then get the option to display a thumbnail or a full size pic on your post. If the pic is too big, you'll get an error message. You will need to shrink it down using some photo editing software.

Yeah that's the problem. Hmm photo editing software. I'll be back. Thanks lots.

The other option is to upload to a free image hosting website (like photobucket, for example) who will then give you a link. To post on here, click the icon that looks like a folder with a smiley face, and enter the link.

This thread has some useful tips. http://www.urban75.net/forums/threads/uploading-pictures.309268/

Thanks again. That's what I was doing earlier in the thread, it's just a bit of a chore to do after a long day at work and an evening cleaning out far too many little monsters. Anyway. Tomorrow.

By the way, far too many = 19. I kid you not. That's what you get when your other half is addicted to rescue/advise facebook pages.
