School scraps ‘racist’ hair rules as they’re influenced by ‘white supremacy’

I'm all for the get rid of hairstyles stuff but to wrap it in some decolonisation bull shit when its an 11+ selected Grammar School is laughable.

It's the first time I've seen the word "decolonisation" used in this context.
It's just the Metro looking for some cheap controversy and the school angling for that 'woke pound'.

It really isn't, decolonisation of the curriculum is very much a part of education these days. We've had a faculty seminar on it this year.

Ooh, fancy!
Is the curriculum now self-governing, or is that the long-term aim?

(I don't have a problem with putting something worthwhile in place of all that old Empire crap by the way - just seems like an odd word choice) ;)

This is a selective all girls school so none of the pupils are likely to turn up with skinheads or mohicans, without wishing to appear cynical, lifting a ban on something the kids won't do anyway is hardly a blow for free choice.
Girls get cut (no pun intended) a lot more slack on hairstyles than boys anyway.
My daughter's school just bans extreme hairstyles without defining what an extreme hairstyle is. She has waist length hair but I suspect any boy with the same would face demands to get it cut.
This is course sexist but no-one has far as I know has challenged it.

He's not the Headmaster , he is the chief executive of the Odyssey Trust for Education a private company that runs this selective all girls decolonised grammar school,. This school was in a programme I watched last year or so about who gets into Grammar Schools.

I'm confused, does the school self-describe as 'decolonised'? Because I'm not sure anyone is entitled to award themselves that particular merit badge, even assuming you can meaningfully 'decolonise' one tiny little corner of society at a time.

I thought you had to decolonise someone else's country rather than little bits of your own, so what do I know?

Being fair though, as much as we all hate execrable concepts like "free speech" <spits>, there are more than a couple of posters on this thread, myself included, that could find egg on our face from too much applauding of the insta-banning of posters for being a bit annoying.

Marty21 is the original.
Marty1 was a corruption caused by one of LlazyLLama's updates.

I think I might owe Marty21 an apology.

I'm never the most attentive of readers on Urban75 so, in my head, I thought Marty1 and Marty21 were the same person, and I remember thinking 'Why has Marty21 suddenly turned into a Spiked Spouting Shitehead Cunt?' I'm glad I never said anything.

Apologies Marty21.
