I don't think it is edgy to express the sentiment that this vile individual deserves all he gets.
I still don't really understand why fellow prisoners take it into their own hands to exact revenge for crimes that have nothing to do with them, thereby increasing their own sentence.

It's a twisted situation. But I watched that sentencing. The judge was doing his job. He did it an an amazingly sickeningly British way. He and that jury had to sit through that shit for weeks. And this fucktank still got off with the most major tariff available. Although presumably he's been put under such light protection because of overcrowding, right?
But I can guarantee you neither him or the jury are shedding tears about this attack on the fucking pussy.

This is a particularly appalling, sustained crime on an innocent child victim as we all agree. IMO that deserves punishment. It should hang heavy on the murderer. We won't agree and I don't want to cause a scene on this poor girl's thread, but the sheer cruelty that Sharif deployed, apparently driven by sadism, the lack of any mercy or interest in the daily chance he had to stop, means he's found himself where he is. He deserves to be there. He foreited his humanity through his inhumanity. Most of the men on the wing will have appalling backstories that Sharif's crimes against Sara will hit home. They're not heroes, no. The consequences are for his own actions. It's shit all round.

Yeah, this one's been doing the rounds for years hasn't it. When I was a schoolboy it was Stalin who was supposed to have charged relatives for the bullet. It's got more than a whiff of urban myth about it. The closest I've seen to it being confirmed has been some occasional cases in Iran where relatives have had to pay to have the bodies of executed prisoners returned.

Nonsense. You're giving the chap one bullet. How's he going to make a bid for freedom? At best he might end up in a locked cell with a dead guard, no prospect of steak or whisky, and a prisoner who's confused about why he's heard a gunshot but is still alive. You haven't thought this through. If we were to really get hung-up on the safety aspect, Saul's plan of automating the process so it just requires a button push, rather than handing a prisoner a loaded gun, could be the answer.
I take your point though, that steak and whisky might be insufficient inducement. A potential solution here would be to hold an auction where the reward is increased until someone volunteers for the job. Kind of like Antiques Road Trip, in reverse.

Its an extremely common logical flaw in the arguments of many supposed progressives, wrt CP.
On the one hand they argue that capital punishment is barbaric, then in the next sentence advocate what they consider to be increased suffering!
