Rich Bloke Kills Girlfriend ‘During Rough Sex’ - gets 3 years

I’m somewhat amused that on a forum where people are happy to strip off for complete strangers, porn cropping up in a conversation between close mates is considered odd. :D

Between close mates is almost normal. You made it sound like everyone was chatting about liking a bit of donkey strangling porn over pints at your local.

Blimey. I’d be surprised if it gets mentioned over Christmas dinner with the family tomorrow but I have in the past heard of ‘preferences’ from mates was all I was saying.

Depends what you call "extreme porn". It seems to me that the sort of porn which most people appear to think of as mainstream still seems to involve quite a lot of seemingly casual violence. I don't think I'm particularly prudish, but the level of coercion and albeit-light violence seems to me to be a little too normalised...

My understanding of porn is that you can pick from many, many categories upon, ahem, coming across porn gerbil or whatever. There is something for everyone, so I hear - all body types, vanilla, most kinks (if that's your sort of thing). I don't really get the argument that all (or even most) porn is extreme or universally enforces certain body ideals. But this is just based on what friends tell me, obviously.

I don’t mean to be a killjoy, but I keep seeing updates to this thread, and finding men making silly jokes.

I mention gender because perhaps it’s hard to see that for women, cases like these represent the fear that any man could, in law, get away with beating us to death.

Inappropriate humour absolutely has its place, but does that place have to be everywhere inappropriate?

Yeah. Apologies. It felt as if the thread had lost its way then I became part of the problem.

But every time I read the title, I shudder - every word in it adds up to a picture of something truly appalling, and I'd go back to my earlier comments about the way in which sexual violence seems to have become at least somewhat normalised.

Fucking YES. I wanted to say this the other day about the porn chat but let it pass as just about on topic. But this is too much.
