Appreciate that there will probably be a thicker thread nearer the time, but have been told we've got a pre-season organised vs QPR on 3/7.
Not one I’ve heard and I know a few that are in negotiation. They will all be announced at the same time once agreed and I expect player news will start being released shortly.Appreciate that there will probably be a thicker thread nearer the time, but have been told we've got a pre-season organised vs QPR on 3/7.
If the club knows communication needs to drastically improve they should be taking every opportunity to try and do something about it - and if long term solutions aren't yet in place there should be an interim plan to do as much as possible until they are. Anything is better than nothing. Not one I’ve heard and I know a few that are in negotiation. Club is looking to appoint a new communications person as they are aware it needs to drastically improve. That also explains why some other announcements haven’t come out along with finalising some changes to suppliers.
In terms of retained players, Vint & Holland were already signed. All other players became free agents unless under 24. Believe that only involved Splatt & McGregor. Other than that players may be offered new terms but we won’t retain them unless they actually sign a new contract.
There are also reasons why players are not named in pre season line ups when not signed not just to prevent other clubs knowing.
That has to be the best case of over analysis I’ve read even for here.If the club knows communication needs to drastically improve they should be taking every opportunity to try and do something about it - and if long term solutions aren't yet in place there should be an interim plan to do as much as possible until they are. But we're opting for nothing seemingly due to a combination of (1) some weird logic that you can't announce one pre-season game until the other ten are arranged, or you can't announce any player signings until they're all registered (by which time a lot of it has already been announced by the other clubs/players involved anyway), and (2) that the only person who's allowed to have the passwords to the club's Twitter and Instagram accounts has got to have the right job title.
It's far beyond a joke now - incompetent at best, arrogant at worst.
This has been mentioned on a QPR forum.Appreciate that there will probably be a thicker thread nearer the time, but have been told we've got a pre-season organised vs QPR on 3/7.
The problems with communication are long standing, not just something that deteriorated during last season. That it's taken this long for the club firstly to recognise that and then decide to do something about it should be open to question. That has to be the best case of over analysis I’ve read even for here.
As they have freed up budget to employ somebody and are carrying out interviews I’d suggest they are doing something and making a concerted attempt to address failings that became obvious last season.
Surprising though it may seem, the people responsible for sorting out pre season fixtures and getting officials in place for them are doing their job and so are those who get players registered to play. Their job is not to manage the club’s social media.
It’s not a weird logic of not announcing games one at a time, it’s a policy and that policy is not new. So far one club has decided to break an agreement and announce a match, others have chosen to work together to make simultaneous announcements.
As no new signings have yet been announced it cannot always be the case other clubs leak details as you state. In fact players will refuse terms or not be offered new terms and the clubs will not know who they have signed for unless the player tells them.
In fact we often don’t announce players not retained to give them a better chance of securing a good deal at another club.
I would suggest it’s neither arrogant or incompetent but merely a choice the club makes that you don’t like.
It is also not possible to sell season tickets until a deal is struck with a ticket provider able to provide what the club needs at a price that is acceptable. I think the days of home made season tickets are probably gone if crowds are to be effectively managed as everybody wants. And yes we will still have the lowest prices in the league despite significant cost increases.
Same is true of kit supply. Negotiations take time with suppliers and won’t be announced until everything is in place.
Hopefully when the right person is in place the comms will reach the standards you and the club would like.
Gossip is all it is. Not only player Maidstone showed an interest in. Expect to see him at Dulwich but you never know until they signOoh, gossip...
Thanks for being constructive in all this I will pass all the comments on.The problems with communication are long standing, not just something that deteriorated during last season. The majority of clubs in our league have already announced pre-season fixtures and details about retained squads. Over half have announced season ticket prices and application dates. I'm not doubting they're being worked on, but they're clearly achievable.
The only club in the NLS that hasn't announced anything about the upcoming season is us. When an internal policy places you so clearly in the minority, for no discernible benefit, it should be reviewed and not just blindly followed.
And you're entitled to think that's over analysis on my part - you absolutely don't have to agree with me. For my part, I genuinely appreciate that you take the time to engage with the only active supporter forum available to the club, and provide one of the only sources of information as to what's going on.
Excellent! Appreciate it's just gossip. As everything is being sorted, always interesting to see names mentioned on TwitterGossip is all it is. Not only player Maidstone showed an interest in. Expect to see him at Dulwich.
This gets funnier and funnier by the day.Another pre-season friendly announced by someone else - Millwall U23s at Champion Hill, Tuesday 19th July, 7.45pm kick off. £12 adults, £5 concessions, under 13s are free.
And just to add, Millwall are taking their full team to Dartford the week before, who are charging £10 adults, £5 concessions, £2 for juniors.

It would be nice to know anything. Before we get ahead of ourselves, what about Gav? Has he been offered a new contract? Has he accepted?
My stance at the end of last season was that I wasn't going to renew my ST if he was still at the helm... I may be softening on that but it would still be nice to know either way
