I had a very nice pizza last night. Of the sort that good Italian-family chip shops in Scotland do. It was a margarita.

Are the purple/black things olives? If so

Olives are good for pizza. I'm more worried about the strips of beetroot or is it ham or plastic in the first pizza. The pizza below features actual ham so I'm confused about these strips.

That is napoli salami and the other has prosciutto cotto. Both have olives but to my child's disgust there was no pineapple or sweetcorn.

I think you are misunderstanding the phenomenon. In Scotland it is very normal for Italian/chip shops to be run by generations of the same Italian family. They do chip shop fayre but also pizza/pasta/etc. Often home made ice-cream.

For me, this type of pizza is of a particular variety. Very good, but not quite the “authentic” vibe you’d get in, say, Paesano’s in Great Western Road.

It was very nearly floored. Two pizzas served as one, on a piece of wood that has plonked on a freestanding frame on the table. One, as every was vegetarian. Not a good way to serve pizza

I'd be up for trying it too. I reckon the lemons might be milder than usual. Japan might seem a long way to go but then I could have Beard Papa's cream puffs for pudding.

Seems to have got the comments section purple faced as would be expected. The evening news really is a shit newspaper with an article like this most days although I suspect the same can be said of most local news.
