After narrowly missing out on top spot in our division the women’s team now turn our attention to the League Cup. We’ve got a bye through the first round of the competition & have been drawn against Camden Town in the quarterfinals. The tie is set for Saturday 13th April although the kickoff time has yet to be confirmed. The venue is likely to be Raynes Park as the Clapham Common football pitches will be closed from April 8th in preparation for the festival season. More details when I have them.
Update: This game takes place later today with a 12noon kick off at Prince George’s Playing Fields. If it’s all level after 90 minutes the game goes to penalties. Hopefully I’ll be awake throughout as I’m currently working the night shift!!

Menace Feminista booked their place in the semi final of the LWSFL League Cup with a 4-1 victory over Camden Town. Oodles of chances after scoring with our very first attack. A couple of 😱 moments in the first half at our end but on the whole it was very much one way traffic & we added a second before the break. The second half was very much in the same vein as we laid siege to the Camden goal but could only add a third when we definitely deserved more. A contested penalty award threw Camden a lifeline but yours truly made an all important save to preserve our 3 goal lead. A fourth goal extended our lead late on and through the clean sheet bonus went down the pan with a late Camden goal there was never any danger of more goals conceded. The semifinal is next week and details of that when it’s announced.

So the draw for the semi final has been made & we’ll be looking for revenge against Franchester on Saturday after narrowly missing out on the Division One title to them. The game takes place at Prince George’s Field, Raynes Park KO 12 noon. Love to have your support there.

Mixed emotions today. The final scoreline of 4-1 to Franchester fails to recognise how well this Peckham side performed against some of the toughest opponents in this league, especially as it was so tight at 2-1 with only a few minutes left. Two goals in stoppage time! Pride and disappointment are strange bedfellows indeed.

I reckon that's just about a legitimate placement. The ball only needs to be overlapping a fraction of the line, in the same way as it's not a goal if a fraction of the ball is overlapping the goalline.
Just adds weight to my theory he’s asking for a sit down. After all, officials don’t make mistakes like that.

Was hoping the midweek games would be balmy Spring evenings but we are where we are. We can always burn bits of the Conservative Club to keep warm I suppose.

With Hamlet and other league seasons finished. Hopefully see a few more down the Menace for this Saturday, BH Monday and Saturday 11th. It's going to be a gripping battle for 9th place.

At the bus stops. In the beer gardens. Down the laundrettes. In the newsagents.
All they are talking about is the Race For Ninth.

I'll do the Bank Holiday and probably the 11th. (I've got a ground tick lined up at Epping Town for the 4th.)

Crockenhill are looking for pre-season opponents, if Peckham fancy another trip to their amazing rustic home.

Damn, I'd love to visit that ground again! I guess it must be even more decrepit by now.
