Hamlet Women v Enfield Town, Sunday 14 April, 2pm

My understanding of the offside law is that it's only negated when the defender intentionally plays the ball back. A deflection or a sliced clearance under pressure doesn't count. I was right in line with that incident and Summer clearly tried to pass to Martha, who was well offside, but the ball rebounded to her off the defender. Frankly they change the law so often these days, it's a total mess.
I’ve had a couple of similar incidents this season that really test this law. One at Welling United where one of my defenders went to clear the ball but got a bad connection and sent the ball into the path of an attacker who scored. Having already had a pointless “conversation” with the officials about a “goal” given when the ball had clearly not crossed the line, decided it wasn’t worth trying to persuade him! It can be argued that the defender intentionally played the ball though obviously the intention was to put it in a totally different direction!
