I did this one, as I fancied a day out somewhere different, rather than Dartford again.
The ground is as basic as it gets, just one step below the lowest NLS level with all its ground grading requirements, but for me it's where a village community club like Minster belongs rather than groundsharing at Ramsgate as they did last season.
The venue has a cricket square in the centre, with a roped off football pitch on one side, and a pavilion with changing rooms at the end nearest the gate. Programmes and mugs of tea were on sale from the pavilion entrance.
The match was closely contested for the most part, but the 2nd in the table hosts grew more dominant during the final quarter. The deadlock was finally broken with less than 10 minutes remaining when the referee paused for a few seconds before awarding a penalty for a rather careless challenge inside the edge of the box, a decision hotly disputed by the visiting players. Dan Adams converted from the spot, and just 2 minutes later captain Tom Coyne doubled their lead with a thumping header from a corner kick. It was a little harsh on mid-table Peckham when substitute Josh Belsey added a third in stoppage time, although his beautifully weighted chip shot at the end of a counter attack was undoubtedly the most aesthetically pleasing moment of a chilly but sunny afternoon.
I'm not sure how they calculated the declared attendance figure of 56 in an open ground with no gate money taken. My headcount, after attempting to filter out substitutes and team staff, was around half that figure.
