Interesting thought that an “extra 1%” might come from having the most climate change resilient ground…Because global warming wil make it too hot to run around for 90 minutes in summer an issue?
Unfortunately a fair chunk of existing grounds go under water if current predictions prove true Look at CoCo Division One this season for the issues where ground have brooks / streams nearby. Less global warming than cost cutting in clearing up but....
What’s the football connection?I used to live next door to the Aigburth ground. It did typically lose fewer days to rain than Old Trafford. Not sure now.
As am aside, the ground is quite important in the history of football in Liverpool.
Did a bit of Googling this afternoon.Sorry blanked on the team name, it was a gentleman's team not a working class one so probably something like Liverpool Casuals. They played out of there and helped popularise the sport in the city.
As an aside the first Liverpudlian to play for England was Rupert Darnley Anderson (his brother William was an FA Cup winner). Darnley ended his days at Waverley Abbey House, not far from where I live now. A bit grander than my place mind.
