Peckham Town FC - news and discussion

You’d have to move fast then as the only two games left in our league are the League Cup semifinal and final scheduled for 25th March and 1st April. That said I’m sure we’d be up for a friendly at some point in the future, maybe even one against a Dulwich Hamlet team. Champions of Southwark weekend in pre season perhaps?
Altona weekend…?

Bit of a mixed performance today. A goal up and in command at half time, we rather lost cohesion after the break particularly when Lambeth started bringing on substitutes, a number of whom were first team regulars (we were playing their “Development” team. They scored three unanswered goals in the second half but despite losing 3-1 the result was enough to confirm our place in next week’s semifinal. Opposition to be confirmed after the rest of todays fixtures

Update: We will be playing Croydon WFC in the semifinals of the LWSFL Cup, kicking off at 10am next Saturday. In our league meetings we came away with a 2-2 draw and a 3-1 win so we’re confident if we repeat that form there’s an excellent chance of making the final. As always support is Uber welcome

I'm contemplating an away trip to Ide Hill but it's a bit of a bugger to get to. Anyone else mulling over a Sevenoaks-esque jaunt?

The 'stadium' looks a little low in facilities but there's definitely a hill there:

I can't make it sadly. Camberwell Lane though, it's a home from home...
Editted to add: Its not the nearest pub, but this one has to be worth a visit. Best spoonerism I've seen in years

That's not where the first team play unfortunately. They play at Wrotham school. It's convenient to get too, but not as idyllic. I'll tweet the info later in the week.

The League Cup dream is over for Peckham Town women. A very encouraging start to our game against a very strong Croydon Women’s Development side bolstered by a number of players who have played regularly for the Trams’ Sunday South East Counties League side but no goals. The wind played a massive part in the game though not to our advantage. The only goal of the first half came when a cross from the right held up on the wind and dropped below the crossbar. We had some good chances to draw level but the Croydon keeper made some exceptional saves to thwart us. Croydon added a second when their centre forward (one of those first team players) pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box and beat me from close range. Even at 2-0 we were still in the game but the wind again came into play when a long keeper clearance carried on the wind, the high bounce catching me out with the ball rolling into the net despite my best attempts to keep it out. Never let our heads drop and played some of our best football at this point though a consolation goal just couldn’t come. The season might be over now but when we look back we can see how far we’ve come. The women’s team is continuing to grow. Maybe it won’t be too long before we return to the women’s pyramid. Plan to be pulling on my Menace GK jersey the day that comes.

Just discovered this report of the game on the Croydon Advertiser. As usual the photos don’t flatter yours truly. Croydon Women Development squad book League Cup final spot after victory over Peckham Town

Peckham have a rare midweek match tomorrow (Thursday) away at the Metrogas pitches in Eltham. Ko 630 I think

See you there? I can recommend the Rusty Bucket as a pre-match pub in Eltham. It's then an easy bus ride to the ground or a nice 30 minute walk mostly through Avery Hill park.
