Local BBC radio stations have joined with manufacturers and retailers to set aside thousands of DAB digital radios to be given away for free to vulnerable people aged over 70.
WaveLength, along with Argos, Currys PC World, John Lewis & Partners, Pure and Roberts Radio, are coming together with BBC Local Radio’s Make a Difference initiative, to provide radios to the most vulnerable over 70s. Radio has a unique role providing local news, sharing information in the community, providing entertainment and most of all being a companion to listeners.
The radios have been donated by Argos, Currys PC World, John Lewis & Partners, Pure and Roberts Radio and will be distributed by loneliness charity Wavelength, who provide technology to those in need. Manufacturer Duracell UK will provide batteries.
