Pandemic personal consequences

Post #47464 on the UK thread. JCVI interim recommendations are for an annual autumnal booster for 50+ and, perhaps, an additional spring booster as well for the clinically extremely vulnerable.

No decision yet.
Thanks. I guess I'll be getting that. . . . if it happens.

I've had that message (via text). It was maybe six months ago? I think the treatments have been around for a while.

When I had it a few months ago I went through an assessment for the special treatments (I’m on immunosuppressant drugs so vulnerable/eligible) and they decided not to give it to me, but then independent of this my GP was participating in a clinical trial for the same drug so I got it through that instead. Not sure how much difference it made but I recovered from the worst of it reasonably quickly (have had it before and also vaccinated, though due for a booster at the time). Had to do a daily questionnaire for the trial for a few weeks and submit blood samples. Also gave me a horrible taste in the mouth while I was taking it.

Been in contact on Friday - couple of minutes but face to face - with someone who tested positive this morning. Banter. Guess I'll be vigilant for a few days, eh.

I seem to have fallen out of the habit of wearing a mask at work or in shops.
Kinda wish I hadn’t but it’s been 3 years and it can’t go on indefinitely.

After several weeks quite badly sick over the new year, and now endless nagging coughs, I consistently wear a mask on public transport these days, for all the good it does. I can't wear one at work but then I work in a small office and only go in once a week.

Brother and a few mates have it at present. All have said that last time it was a cakewalk compared to the current variant.
