Aussie in San Francisco
Earlier today, i paid a visit to the local British shop here in San Diego. Most large American cities have one (or more): a place where you can buy British (and Australian) products that are not generally available in the US. I usually go to buy tea, and stuff like Fry's chocolate, Violet Crumbles, etc. etc.
Anyway, while i was at the counter today, i chatted with the two women behind the counter about the World Cup. There is no TV in the store, and they were bummed that they couldn't watch the game, so i showed them how to get Univision's free stream on their computer and they were very happy.
I made the mistake, though, of asking who they were cheering for today. They got rather indignant, and told me that no true Brit would ever cheer for Argentina.

even though hand of god etc, i still liked argentina because of maradonna...which got me thinking, would maradonna be able to make the runs that he used to, taking on the whole world, in todays game? I get the feeling in modern football theres a lot less room to play, and modern tactics are all about reducing that space.
