German players little dance around the trophy was a bit meh! If Argentina had won, a little tango would have been better!
Noooooooo.... really? I don't know how you ever got that idea.... so late in the tournament! The English football team are shit, obviously.
I was wracking my brain to find which Latin American country did the fanta dance! Doh! Seriously these americanos have some nice little dance moves!Fanta's nicer.
Enjoyed it. Shame there were not more goals but more evenly matched than expected. I thought if Argentina got an early goal they might nick it. If Germany got an early goal then they would score more.
As a neutral (sweepstake win aside) I almost wanted penalties rather than the inevitable 1-0 either way that extra time would/did deliver.
Great tournament regardless. Enjoyed it more than any I have seen in my lifetime.
Messi has been poorly for ages. He's this good when he's ill. 37 goals last season and sick!
A tribute to Iniesta and Xavi.
yeah Argentina flagged at 80mins evenI did think if it ended in 90 minutes Argentina would be the team to get it. Once extra time Germany seemed to have it. Maybe the extra days rest since their easier semi final? Maybe they have a stronger/fitter squad?
There's the Messidependencia camp and the Messi-can't-do-it-alone camp. They're both wrong.
i want a thread about this world cup, i already can barely remember any of itI want to do a thread about Euro 2000. Does everyone remember how brilliant it was? Seems forgotten.
Quite. Theres always more than two positions in an argument. I just think the Messi=Maradona comparisons laughable and always have done.

what do you want to talk about MinnieI wanted a thread about the World Cup but excluding chat about the football but I thought it might upset the people who watch it for the football
Why's there a line of air-hostesses on the podium?

Not really. I've watched Messi very cloesly for 7 years now. He's been more than Maradona's equal at club level and has a much better international goal-scoring record. You can make a case for either, and Mexico '86 tips it towards Maradona last night. The idea comparisons are "laughable" is laughable. They are legitimate and there are all kinds of arguments in favour of Messi.
He would have done it tonight if he wasn't sick. It's a question of whether he recovers from this chronic illness or not. Think how well he played while ill through this tournament.
that sounds good but you dont get much of that on tvI like all the stories about the fans travels to get there and what they're up to and all that kind of nonsense. I enjoy watching the crowds, the anthems, the drama, the laughter, the cheers, the tears, watching the fans discover the country, watching fans from different countries meeting etc. All the not exciting stuff unless you're sad like me and like watching people

As Barcelona follower I've watched Messi since Rijkaard brought him on as a sub in 2004 and ive studied Maradonas career at international level, Boca, Barca and the miracles he worked at Napolli. Its like comparing a traffic light to a zebra. Two totally different things from two totally different eras. Maradona was a true "No. 10," a classic Argentine playmaker. Messi is a forward, hence his goal scoring record, who on occasion has played as a playmaker but has never thrived in that role. So I stand by view that comparisons between Messi and Maradona are laughable, as well as the endless excuse making offered when Messi doesn't have all the advantages he gets while playing for Barcelona in La Liga or 'The Champions' League.
