This is actually quite unpleasant now.
Dangle a million dollars in front of people who mostly seem that they need a bit of a break, not everyone is having a great life so needs the money, and just watch the feeding frenzy :(
I'm only up to episode 4 and it had definitely turned!

The Clovehitch Killer (film) really looks like it should be my sort of thing, on paper it ticks all the boxes.
I cannot fucking concentrate on it, I don't know why but it could be as much to do with my brain as the film itself.
I'm on my 3rd go at getting through it but my mind keeps drifting off.
Mind you this has been an issue for me since my 2nd bout of COVID so I am blaming that.

Agent Elvis. An adult animation series very much like Archer, and in more ways than one. Actually written and produced by Priscilla Presley, it tells the story of Elvis moonlighting as a vigilante/ secret agent, with his faithful coke-addicted, prostitute-frequenting chimpanzee companion.

It's outrageous, and funny as fuck. Highly recommended :D

Started watching Breaking Bad again.
Hard to believe it started in 2008 🤪
What surprises me is how accustomed I've become to violence on screen . The first time I watched Breaking Bad I thought I would not continue with it after episode 2 and the dissolving bath of human bits scenes.

I am looking forward to watching the whole series for the next few weeks.

I didn't like it.

Priscilla Presley is not credited as a writer on the show, just creator.
It’s written by a bunch of folk

Fair enough, though for me the interesting thing is that she was actively involved in this and her input would obviously have been a big influence in the storylines and general vibe of the series.

She also voices herself (for she features in some episodes), and the attitude to drug taking displayed by both her character and Elvis’s is interesting.

Just out of curiosity, how many episodes did you last, and do you like Archer?
One. I watched it last night.
I have watched a few Archers here and there, but overall I don't like that either. Sounds good on paper, but it's just not funny. There have been little bits that I have liked, and a few ideas that sound like fun but it just doesn't do it for me. Same with the Venture brothers, sounds like a great idea, very funny. . . but it's actually laboured and boring.
I thought the Elvis thing was a cheaper looking, crass, poorly executed version of the genre. Looks like flash animation.
i thought some of the fights and framing looked quite good and dynamic, but nah, not for me.

Fair enough. If you had lines Archer but not this one I would have found a bit strange.

I'm watching . . . Tiger & Dragon, a Japanese comedy drama.
Seems pretty fun so far, and Pigsy from Monkey is in it for 80s fans.

Also still enjoying Mr Queen. Korean show that effortlessly jumps from genre to genre. Comedy, period drama, mystery.

Last night, I was looking for films under 90 minutes, didn't want to watch anything too long, as I was just waiting for sleeping tablets to kick in. I'd seen lots of the other 90-minute movies, so started watching The Guard.

"An unorthodox Irish policeman with a confrontational personality is partnered with an uptight F.B.I. agent to investigate an international drug-smuggling ring."

Don Cheadle, Brendan Gleeson and Mark Strong are in it. It's funny enough, with some cracking one-liners.

Thanks for the heads-up. Not even at the halfway mark but loving it already. You’re not wrong about the cracking one-liners; Gleeson is sublime in this :D

Highly recommend Apollo 10 1/2
Animated film about the moon landings and growing up in the 60's. Even though it's set in the USA and I was too young to remember the small step for a man etc, so much resonated. A really lovely film.

Did you finish it? I’ve only just heard of it, and was intrigued to see it boasts rave reviews from critics and audiences alike…
I loved it. I found it very quirky and charming.

It's a bit formulaic, in terms of each episode presents a new legal case, a new legal challenge that requires some 'outside the box' thinking to resolve, but the rivalry between trainees/newly qualified lawyers is spot on, as are many of the aspects of the representation of being autistic.

Written and directed by the elder brother of the director of Banshees Of Enishirin.
